I’ve seen a couple of people saying that calling a man ‘she’, or a ‘trans woman’, is a bit like calling someone unrelated to you an Aunt/Uncle 🙃 But you are not innately an Aunt or Uncle in the same the way you are innately a member of your sex. You may specifically become one. Either because of children being born in your family, or through adopting that title And while ‘Aunt’ and ‘uncle’ is usually tied to a biological relationship to someone else we all know it is also a title or role that can be taken on by others without a genetic link to the child. Either informally through choice, or formally by marriage. Mainly because it benefits children to have community. (At a quick count I have/had at least ten fake aunts and uncles. One of whom was an adolescent arsonist who went on to beat Matt Monroe in a singing competition. But I digress) It certainly takes a village etc 😄 A vital central argument of the “gender critical” movement has always been that we are innately women. That woman is something you are, simply, because the passage of time has continued and thus changed the specific word used to describe you as a female. It isn’t like an honorary title, or a social nicety. It isn’t a type of role you can take on or reject either. It isn’t a relationship to others that you can acquire. It isn’t a criteria you must first meet by your behaviour (like by marrying Uncle Steve or having a sibling who likes you and procreates, or by first being friendly with our Jackie). It is a material reality like the sun, and the rain, and the effects of gravity This truth is fundamental to women’s rights, and to the recognition of our humanity. It clears away all the clutter of sexism and declares that we are people too. The second that woman gets treated as a role or a title, instead of an immutable reality, women are expected to perform forms of femininity, fit stereotypes, modify their behaviour in unnatural ways and/or be subordinated in order to be ‘good’ at it. Women who care about women’s rights have been fighting that kind of nonsense forever You simply cannot rationally acquire the reality of being a woman by your relationship to others. Linguistic prescription is authoritarian. It’s one of the things trans activists have used, with enormous success. Seeking to control what people are allowed to say is a hallmark of cults and totalitarian regimes. I do not subscribe to the post modern ideas that changing language changes reality, that redefining something alters its nature, that our conception of a thing is of more importance than observable facts about the thing itself. To me, this kind of thinking is a dead end full of people pontificating and obfuscating, enjoying the sounds of their own voices while the world burns outside. Some gender critical people seem to think that demanding we all use correct sex pronouns will return the world to sanity. This is an attempt to make the tail wag the dog. You cannot fight linguistic prescription with more linguistic prescription, and no rights campaign can succeed if its adherents are more interested in creating a purity spiral than allowing the smallest space for nuance or for the complexities of human nature and feelings.

El argumento "¿pretendes que esta persona use tal baño?" es un absurdo hasta para la propia teoría queer. Si la persona, hipotética o real, que sirve de ejemplo no se "identificase como trans", viese como se viese, estarían de acuerdo con que fuese al baño que le corresponde.
