Marathon Season 2 has some cool stuff in it, But announcing that you're ending support for Destiny 2 right before it comes out, And then releasing it exactly 1 week before the Final Destiny 2 Update ever, Is insane. Like do they WANT people to hate on Marathon lol!?!?

@PaulTassi Even if they did drop it, I’d imagine a lot of Shattered Cycle was setting up The Alchemist narratively so it would be awkward and unfair for them to tease a future that is probably never coming.

I don’t know how much work is left on Shattered Cycle, I don’t know how long it might have gotten delayed before this, but yes fundamentally setting this up with a “one last expansion” would have been less nauseating than how this is currently playing out

@BRGSHQ @PaulTassi It’s probably not even content complete so people would just call it trash if they released it. Imagine Edge of Fate but you don’t even get the last couple campaign missions.

I did think maintenance mode would be a little more than was announced. Like I thought these past few months were effectively maintenance mode, but it’s just like literally leaving the servers on it seems

What the hell is Mactis talking about? I haven't seen practically anyone in the Marathon community celebrating Destiny's demise; on the contrary, we're saying that the only way to see Destiny 3 is for Marathon to survive.

@AgentBlade04 @NuclearGore I don’t see how that does anything other than making the lower end of the skill bracket more miserable. Some of the most fun parts of this game are in lobbies where people don’t have much and aren’t abusing endgame meta. If everyone has it then it will just be generally unfun

@NuCaloric It should have been made way earlier but the problem now is that there’s no guarantee as many people would show up after the 4-5 years it would take to make it. Bungie and Sony want to make a game for a 18-24 demographic and sadly that demo’s interest in MMOs is declining

It's so baffling to me that this shit could never get greenlit, like all you hear normies talk regarding Bungie is Destiny 3 as if it's expected. It would've made insano money, every single coworker/classmate type would be eating it up. There are millions still waiting

@NuCaloric The worst part is nobody will ever go back and play the raid to see how good it was. Asked some friends if they wanted to go back and try TDP for the first time since D2 is done and the general consensus was “Nah I’m good.”

@AlteisenX @DestinLegarie Yup. Also younger generations now have less attention spans than ever and would not have the patience to sit down for a 2000+ hour MMO. They would rather get instant gratification with games like Rust or Fortnite. MMO gaming is sadly dead

@DestinLegarie People have learned time investment means everything. A 10-20 hour experience is great. A 2000+ hour one over multiple years is draining. Low stakes jump in games are where the future lies now. Once the old guard are gone... nobody new is willing to take up the mantle.

@NuCaloric This won’t even do anything. Star Wars Battlefront 2 kept hitting record player numbers years after its launch and they won’t green light a sequel. Player numbers mean nothing if they aren’t getting any money. Nobody is showing up to buy D2 microtransactions

The only way a D3 is ever getting greenlit is if the player counts absolutely pop off on june 9th btw

@svxpr @Skarrow9 The community 100% had a part in this game’s downfall. It’s both Bungie upper management and the community collectively. There was one group of people that wanted the game to go on forever and another group that wanted a D3. Unfortunately Bungie chose the wrong ones to listen to.

@MacticsG1 They gutted half of their staff back during final shape and probably don’t have the manpower right now to kickstart a new project as important as Destiny 3. Even if they allocated a small team, there’s no guarantee it would expand unless Marathon succeeds, thus the shift.

Maybe im just stupid but destiny 3 seems like such a clear and obvious choice and it infuriates me that whoever is calling the shots seems ok with letting the destiny IP just fade away into nothing
