Democrat Jamie Ager has announced a coalition of local farmers supporting his campaign against Rep. Chuck Edwards in NC's 11th District. Democrats haven't won here in around 15 years. This November could be one of their best chances. spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/charlotte/n… #NC11 #ncpol

2nd Quarter fundraising numbers for NC Senate Race: Roy Cooper - $14.8 million Michael Whatley - $5 million (numbers according to campaigns) (keep in mind this doesn't include the large amount of outside money that will come into the race and the recent Supreme Court campaign finance ruling striking down limits on how much political parties can spend in coordination with candidates. The ruling is expected to significantly benefit Republicans this election). #ncpol

Whether President Trump’s nominee for US Attorney General, Todd Blanche, will move forward to the full Senate may rest on retiring Texas Sen. @JohnCornyn, who says he’s undecided. One major sticking point is whether any president can revive the $1.8B settlement fund.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche was in the hot seat Wednesday for his Senate confirmation hearing. Democrats on the Judiciary Committee pressed Blanche about the DOJ's prosecution of President Trump's perceived enemies and the department's handling of the Epstein files. But all eyes were on the questions posed by one of the committee's senior Republicans — who remains noncommittal about supporting Blanche's nomination.

Asked about ICE traffic stops after two deadly shootings, @RepMcCaul tells me, "This is getting way out of their mission statement." "It's the local police that detain people here illegally. It's ICE that picks them up and removes them from the country." FULL ANSWER:

"I didn't expect that performing this service was going to put me in the position of explaining to my children what a bulletproof vest was and why I had to wear one," said Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett Tuesday in her testimony before members of Congress. Barrett and Justice Elena Kagan testified before House and Senate committees Tuesday as lawmakers weigh their increased security funding request as part of the 2027 FY budget.

Will Tillis vote for Todd Blanche for Attorney General? May 20 (before Blanche was nominated): "Anybody who equivocates and supported the thugs that have harmed police officers will never get my vote in the committee or on the floor." June 4: "The key for Todd...is being pretty tight on January the 6th. They better have not said for one minute that the people that beat up police officers....were righteous people. You come even close to saying that, you don't have a chair of getting my vote in judiciary." June 5 Trump on Tillis: "Senator Tillis is a loser...he's just an angry man because he's not going to be a senator any longer." June 25: Tillis meets with Blanche, issues statement: "I appreciated the opportunity to hear his vision for the Department of Justice and discuss the important work that lies ahead." June 28: "I’ve got a positive predisposition toward Blanche…but if there’s even a whiff of a lack of independence then that could influence my vote but right now I’m confident in what we see with Blanche." Tillis definitely seems to be leaning towards supporting Blanche but the confirmation hearing is Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee which Tillis serves on. #ncpol @SpecNews1RDU
