I took 1.7 million photos over 6 days to catch this photo of a commercial jet in front of the sun. The moment it happened, TWO floating prominences were visible, making this not just my best aircraft transit photo, but one of the luckiest of my career! Videos of the transit 👇

@ChrisJacksonSC That’s a 767-400. Has forward tilting gear, CF-6 engines, and a raked wingtip.

15 YEARS AGO: On this date in 2011, Alabama experienced a generational tornado outbreak. A total of 62 tornadoes touched town over the northern 2/3 of the state. We will never forget the 252 lives lost that horrible day.

Does your university get flyovers from the Blue Angles for finals week? I didn’t think so. #WarEagle 🦅

@Truthful_ast This is true technically, but for humans you need more overall mass (habs, food, water, etc) so the energy requirement is much higher

@303SnowWolf What portion? I didn’t hear any communication that sounded out of the ordinary for such an event.

@KenKirtland17 Or even better, the center core recovered and both side cores expended lol

@KenKirtland17 I don’t think the actual outcome is as cool as people think it’ll be: One side core recovered, the other is expended.

More info on JRTI moving to starship transportation. The upcoming Starlink mainfest can not be launched on Falcon, and now we are seeing the first steps sunsetting of what is probably the best rocket in history for its replacement, Starship. As Starship takes over starlink launches Falcon will continue customer and crew launches until Starship gets those as well. Cool hint at the end about dual downrange Falcon Heavy landings. There is a plan. Is that borrowing JRTI? Is that transporting OCISLY to east coast for it. Or is it something much cooler... Dual landing on ASOG?
Kiko Dontchev@TurkeyBeaver

With 39A becoming a primarily Falcon Heavy and Starship pad, we don’t actually need two operational droneships on the east coast to maintain our Falcon manifest. Think of pads/drone ships like airplane runways where you need a landing runway for each takeoff runway (ideally they are the same runway I.e. starship). ASOG can support 4 day launch cycle time with RTLS missions in parallel. This is exactly how we operate on the west coast! JRTI will join the “you’ll thank me later” ship to support Starship and SupeHeavy transport from Starbase to the Cape. We have a plan for any double down range Falcon Heavy missions 🚀🚀🚀
