Our third three seed (11th overall) is the GONZAGA BULLDOGS! The Zags are always a hot topic for debate given their conference affiliation, but the Committee has consistently shown great respect for the type of profile GU puts together year-in and year-out. This profile is a little bit more unique than most years, as the Zags didn't really register the volume of marquee out-of-conference wins as typical and also have an ugly Q3 road loss at NET 222 Portland. That said, Mark Few & Co have a neutral court win over Alabama and a rout of Kentucky OOC, a .500 Q1A record, are an incredibly strong 11-2 in the first two quadrants, and boast a metric profile that more than legitimizes their case to be on the 3-line, but likely buts a hard wall for them advancing much higher. The Zags come in at 9.7 on the predictive average (KP/BPI/Torvik) & 15 on the resume side, which is a little harder to stomach in this spot, particularly 17th in WAB. Yet, the Committee is apt to lean into seeding via the predictives, so we feel pretty comfortable in their spot here. Gonzaga heads West, opposite 3-seed Purdue, and will kick things off in Portland, Ore.
