@blurredfrank @GovIE The recent jump in fuel costs was/is not down to taxes or excise. Global supply and pricing issues outside the control of Governments generally..

@john_mcguirk @LordGamblore The bulk of the increase arises from global fuel pricing ... nothing to do with taxation or excise.. excise has been cut by 17c petrol, 22c diesel, and is at 7c on farm diesel While I have no doubt there will be further alleviation measures, they cannot be mob-handled into those

Ireland is the 7th most democratic nation in the world today. Norway, New Zealand & Iceland top the list. During a period of "democratic recession" worldwide, we can be proud of Ireland's electoral process, political culture and popular participation 🇮🇪👏 economist.com/interactive/de…

The Taoiseach says the current protests across the country are wrong, he also believes the protests do not have the support of the majority of the public as they are disrupting people’s livelihoods.

@farmersjournal They pay 7 cents a litre on farm diesel. Do they, farmers, want a zero rate excise for them only? They can claim tax relief on farm diesel as a business expense, but also a carbon tax relief, at full marginal rates, of 130 euro per 1,000 litres of green diesel.

Imagine blocking emergency service vehicles… I saw images of ambulances as well trying to make their way through blockades.

m.independent.ie/irish-news/not… If you or I abandoned our car on the motorway it'd be seized and rightly so. Same if we deliberately drove slowly to cause disruption. Seize the vehicles involved. It's not the government fault there's a war.

This idiot does not represent any recognised group of people. And yet he seems to be holding Dublin City to ransom. Where is the Garda Public Unit? Is it not illegal to block traffic?
NewstalkFM@NewstalkFM

'It's the government that's blocking the place up now, because it's their refusal to treat us with any sort of respect. If we get a call that they're giving us a meeting, this stops immediately'. 🚫Dublin City Centre is at a standstill this morning as motorists continue their fuel protests for a second day. 🚜Delays on the road can be expected across the country, with yesterday's disruptions being dubbed as a "practice round" by one protester. 🗣️Speaking to Newstalk's @JoshCrosbie3, Agricultural Contractor Chris Duffy said "all the government have to do" is give the protesters "a meeting" and the disruption "stops immediately". 📻For more updates, tune in to Newstalk.

I messaged him before trying to explain things he was saying in videos were completely false and damaging to farmers, sent me a deluge of insanely violent voice notes in response😆In the era of GenAI it's just bewildering that people can't do a simple fact check online. Embarrassing for us as a nation to have the voices of people like this in the public domain.

@Radhg4 @CaseyjohnAFC A neighbour missed a hospital appointment in UHG yesterday due to fuel protest. You can be certain the Minister's cars have enough fuel. Who is suffering? Ordinary people.

@farmersjournal These protests have been infiltrated by extreme right wing gangs and political populists remember the Dublin riots started with the fascist gangs backing anything apposed to good governance and law and order. It's the same vibe look at social media posts Gardai hope monitoring.

@CaseyjohnAFC Alot less than other Governments. Oil prices are going to increase again. Far better to wait till that happens for protests. This one is premature.
