Private rents are soaring way way above affordability level now most people pay of 30% of their income on rent & single people over 50% that is unsustainable. Something has to happen because high private rents are wrecking the economy.

@Mr_Husky1 I had this happen. Called the council who sent someone round on a moped and issued a PCN within half an hour. Win win for both of us 🤣

Is that weird to block my driveway like this?
I just moved into my new house over the weekend and I came down this morning to find this random white car had parked right in front of my drive way (the grey Hyundai is mine).
When the miserable old fart came to move it I popped out and politely asked him not to block my driveway but he was adamant that this is public property and anybody is allowed to park there.
So I’m curious, do you think this was a strange place to park or am I being overly protective? He’s clearly not stopping me from being able to get out if I needed to, it just seems a bit rude to me

@JordanEVGuy Well done Octopus! They may be confusing with @OVOEnergy who have doubled their off peak rate from 7p to 14p starting in Nov ☹️
English

Get ready for the numpties to tell you that home charging prices have gone up with Octopus.
Octopus Energy absolutely haven’t increased the cost of charging from home.
Despite my initial overreaction to this, I can’t stand lies.
It is yet another lying headline from the oil owned Telegraph.
In short, Octopus have tightened, and are enforcing the rules they already had in place more thoroughly.
There is NO rise in kWh cost unless choosing to charge outside the scheduled times.
The only time an EV driver would be charged more, is if they decide to charge for longer than the maximum 6 hours smart charging. Octopus previously allowed longer charging at 7p per kWh instead of the standard rate.
EV drivers can still get between 6-12 hours of cheap home energy, but only 6 for charging. If Octopus schedule the charging outside the off peak window, you can get an additional 6 hours of cheap home energy while the car charges.
Octopus have simply taken more control of when it happens, which gives them greater ability to support the entire energy grid which helps everyone.
People will need a new habit of more frequent shorter chargers (6 hours is a lot), rather than 1-2 long charges a week.

@graeme_cobb @Artemisfornow OVO has just got rid of it’s 7p rate it’s now 14p
English

You’re preying on people’s unwillingness to do something basic research. You are leaving context out and are not linking the article.
23:30 - 05:30 remains at 7p kWh.
End of story.
If you have a driveway, EVs continue to be the least expensive car to run bare none.
Here’s the rest of the industry

@politiconensem1 @Sassafrass_84 Italy too - sea planes scoop up seawater from first reports
English

@Sassafrass_84 I see many replies claiming that saltwater can’t be used in seaplanes to extinguish fires. That’s false. In France, we’ve been using aircraft for firefighting for years, for example in Corsica or the south of France, and we use seawater without any issue.

English

@thepeacepoet99 Agree. I’ve had one “natural” birth and 2 subsequent c sections. The c sections were harder on every level. Recovery also so much longer. It is not an easy option!!
