My attention has been drawn to a fabricated screenshot of a purported criminal case against me that is being widely circulated, particularly in the comments on my recent posts following my declaration to champion an amendment to the @Parliament_Ug Administration Act regarding the selection of the Leader of the Opposition (LOP). I wish to state, unequivocally, that this alleged case has never existed. I have not been to Kabale District since 2017, and I have no criminal record or file at any @PoliceUg post or station anywhere in Uganda. It is evident that those behind this smear campaign are attempting to divert attention from the substance of the proposed amendment through intimidation, blackmail, and propaganda. If you disagree with the Bill, challenge it on its merits & not through falsehoods and character assassination. No amount of blackmail or personal attacks will deter us from carrying out our constitutional responsibilities. Some bloggers and social media activists have unfortunately made it a habit to intimidate and malign those with whom they disagree politically. That culture has no place in a mature democracy. I appreciate President @KagutaMuseveni and the @NRMOnline government for fostering an environment where freedom of expression is protected. However, freedom of speech must never be mistaken for a licence to spread lies, defame others, or maliciously tarnish reputations. As Scripture reminds us, "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely." I remain committed to serving with integrity and transparency. We may hold different political views, and you may oppose the Bill we are proposing, but let us engage in respectful, fact-based, and mature debate. As a lawyer, I will always defend the right to freedom of expression. At the same time, I will not condone or tolerate deliberate falsehoods, malicious propaganda, or attempts to destroy the reputation I have built over many years. Bitterness is not an excuse for abandoning basic decency. This level of pettiness is precisely why I believe you are not suited for leadership in this country. I have said it before: the matter concerning the First Lady was a private family issue. Illness and death are universal realities. They come for all of us, at any age, in any country, even those with world‑class medical facilities. None of us is immune.
