@MostlyMonkey I also think that doctors/lawyers are generally upper middle class, with mobility to upper class gated behind levels of externally legible success in the field. That said, the division is kind of arbitrary. I feel like one could fairly argue that they should be lower-upper class.

@MostlyMonkey The way I think of it, "upper class" requires some combination of income and status. One can replace the other, but the conversion rate is costly. I could absolutely imagine people with 7 figure incomes, but who are not upper class. But at 8 figures that gets harder.

Plenty of lottery winners and sports stars burn through 8-figure sums; for people like that, a "free" billion dollar loan may be harmful, and Ramsey is trying to model for them.

Resturaunt worker here- I feel so many people forget that restaurant food needs, by design, to be made quickly, with bulk, cheap ingredients. It is *very* easy to make most things you can order at a standard American restaurant for nearly a third of the price

It is possible to make food as good as your local Thai place or Nandos or Five Guys or Panera or whatever, and it is possible in most cases to do it in under an half an hour—but most people it seems never learn how.

went over to see my friends’ new house yesterday. they have a guest room and it occurs to me that sleepovers actually make a ton of sense when you have a baby. just put the baby to bed and hang out all evening. no dealing with a babysitter and getting home all late and tired.

@BIMBOSATTVA_ @sesquimundist Having been to China, Japan, and South Korea, and then spending almost a year in Taiwan, the ven diagram of similarity between those countries, even in built environment, is fascinating. You'll definitely see some of the Japanese influence when you go - have a great time!
