It's insane that anyone with your phone and 4 digit PIN can lock you out of all of your accounts, photos, etc. We desperately need to fix the fallback recovery options with our identity tech.

I absolutely cannot believe Apple is marketing this as a feature after @nicnguyen and I have done multiple @WSJ stories and videos about how this very feature is being used by iPhone thieves across the country to permanently lock victims out of their Apple accounts. This feature needs to be changed. Not marketed.

@tomerlondon @immad It's a huge problem, and only compounds when you account for degrading ability and mental state (like Alzheimer's). Seems like a ripe place for innovation especially when paired with the right hardware.

Respond to this tweet with a startup idea. I will tell you whether I would take a investor meeting or not and why for that idea, assuming it came in from a strong warm intro. I can tell in 280 chars whether an idea is interesting to me and why. Maybe it will be useful feedback.

@LearnMoreWithC4 Thanks for hosting this! I wanted to ask about the possibility of a break 1, break all scenario within the Onfido verification partnership. It seems like the sharded seeds would be encrypted with a value held by Onfido. If compromised, could they expose all enrolled user keys?

@vipulsaini594 Glad laser fault injection is getting some attention. It gets scarier when you can read out data with lasers/electromagnetic/power side channels. For most security-focused processors over 45nm, this is a serious problem.

However, the storage within wallet exposes the system to potential physical attack vectors. Certain security labs have demonstrated the feasibility of laser & voltage based fault injection methods capable of rendering even a secure chip vulnerable Ref: arxiv.org/pdf/2302.06932…

@parker_mckee They're combining GPT with the Microsoft Graph (all user/corporate held information). They "ground" the data that GPT spits out to corporate documents, but first identify which documents the specific user has access to to ensure no data is leaked (assuming IT set it up properly).

@SternPhD Any insights on how they’re doing this? Do you know if it’s linked back to training data or purely evaluation on output?

One of the key components of the large model stack in the enterprise/gov will be a layer that decides which outputs can be served to which users based on training data permissions. Certain people in an org are not privy all info. It’s a hard problem! Who is working on this?

"The fact that we used to tell our parents 'don’t write your passwords on a piece of paper,' and now web3 comes along and we’re like 'yeah, just write down your seed phrase.' That’s just bad UX." 🤔 -@inks, CMO of @AmbireWallet, on the Side Stage at #WalletCon2023

(4/4) Having just witnessed the impact of offshoring semiconductor manufacturing and the Herculean effort required to bring a decent amount of it back, the US should formally encourage crypto and blockchain development here at home.
