The new incarnation of my photography website has gone live: stevegubin.com My photography website was dormant for a long time. Some time around the pandemic in 2020 I just stopped updating it. I was also dissatisfied with the website host company I had moved to around 2016 (I won't mention any names since many photographers still use it and they may be perfectly satisfied with it.) Utilizing a new company, I revamped the website, updated the photos, and after struggling with making the mobile version presentable, I have finally gone live with the new website. This time I intend to rotate new photos (particularly in the gallery, "Chicago Vignettes: The Montly Cut") and add or change galleries as the muse inspires 😂

So I understand correctly, the Iranian people claim they're not Muslim, do not want to be ruled by mullahs under Islam, and that is the baseline basis for this conflict. The leaders that are left in Iran, all Muslim, are deciding, in a building, who will rule Iran under a continuation of the laws under the Mullahs and Ayatollah. So they all get together to vote, not letting the citizens of Iran decide their future, and the building was bombed? Well...

Last political post for awhile I hope, but this has to be said. I’m not a Trump supporter and honestly, a lot of people who aren’t Trump supporters are still completely fed up with the far left right now. Not because of “progress,” or “fairness,” or any of the values they claim to own. It’s because of the behavior: the purity tests, the tribalism, the reflex to label anyone who disagrees, even slightly, as an enemy. One wrong word, one nuanced opinion, one “I don’t fully agree,” and suddenly you’re a fascist, a bigot, or “part of the problem.” That’s not activism. That’s a cult mindset. Compromise is treated like betrayal. Questions are treated like violence. And “the science” gets invoked like a religious slogan, right up until the data becomes inconvenient, then it’s ignored, reframed, or shouted down. Meanwhile, the same people who demand empathy have none for anyone outside their in-group. Normal people are exhausted. We want solutions, not moral grandstanding. We want reality, not ideology. And we’re done pretending this kind of insane extremism is “just being passionate.” Sincerely, Normal people everywhere
