Former Sussex student Steve Ackroyd (1994-97) is battling brain cancer - there's a sponsored walk to support his treatment on Sat 24th Feb. Please support if you can!

Anyway. Times are hard, I know, but if you're able and willing to donate to support my very dear friend's cancer treatment, I would be immensely grateful.

They grow up, meet and marry different people, like each other's partners, have children - they don't see each other as much as they used to, because that's what adult life is like.
Imagine a disappointingly unromantic version of One Day where Dex and Emma aren't soulmates who are destined to be together, but just the closest of friends: laughing, arguing, dancing, drinking, picking each other up off the floor when needed.
But when they do see each other, it's the same. They still get each other, they still find each other funny, they're never going to just run out of things to talk about. They're each living happily ever after in their separate lives, and they're happy for each other.
Men defining what a woman is, what women should and shouldn’t fear, what women should and shouldn’t say, what rights women should be fine with giving up and, of course, what constitutes ‘real’ misogyny: get a bloody mirror. That’s real misogyny, looking right back at you.
That this story isn’t front page of any national paper today is a disgrace. A serving @gmpolice detective has been found guilty of raping a child, but this barely registers on the news agenda. Is this the level now, accepting police perpetrated child abuse?bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…
So far, @DawnButlerBrent, who thinks babies are born without a sex, has disclosed over £46k in personal political donations from @glaad and Anthony Watson. No wonder her position hasn’t changed 💷💷💷💷
@serialsockthief@littleccm Less gritty realism than Jacqueline Wilson (which is no criticism of Wilson, just wasn't what my kids were after at that age)
@serialsockthief@littleccm Hard recommend Helen Moss 'Adventure Island' series - great characters, Blytonesque plots but set in the 21st century and minus the casual racism
📚 Daughter has suddenly gone from having heaps of books still to read to everything suddenly being a bit too easy for her. Any recommendations for 7/8+ year olds? I think we’re ready for slightly chunkier reads, not Tolstoy or anything but stuff she can get her teeth into? 📚
Here’s @mencap_charity statement written with learning disabled people’s contribution. Mencap have asked @Channel4 for a meeting before it’s broadcast. BTW @adamhillscomedy it’s not about Rosie it’s about averting harm. Rosie can use a slur she owns. She isn’t learning disabled
@brandubh4 I think you are one of the lucky girls who feel you can speak your mind. Standing up to this nonsense is what is needed at the very root but I feel sad for the kids who are afraid to speak up and end up supporting this falsehood
Well done 💞
As. For the science teacher, well 😂🙄
I talk a lot about my science teacher and the conversation that we had in November 2021!
However I've never gone into detail about our exchange. Until now.

Where to start.
Dear Joanna Mellis
1. Female athletes advocating for equal competitive opportunities for females are not 'anti-trans activists'.
2. The common perpetrators of sexual assault, abuse & harassment in sport are males.
3. Transwomen are male.1/

It is not compulsory to believe in the concept of a gender identity. I see it as a sexist concept that harms the interests of women and LGB people.
If you know it’s impossible to change sex, please don’t pretend you believe it. It is not kind or progressive to lie to children.
Dear Education Secretary,
There aren't enough new teachers joining the profession.
There are far too many teachers leaving the profession.
There are far too many leaders leaving.
This is catastrophic for our children, for our schools & for our society.
Please help, urgently.
