MALDON TOWN COUNCILLOR CHARGED IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND RAPE INVESTIGATION. A serving Maldon Town councillor has been charged as part of the ongoing investigation and legal action surrounding allegations of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, rape and other sexual offences. Richard Howard-Smith, 35, of Southwood Chase in Danbury has been charged alongside Eldred Reames, 24, of the same address. Both men were arrested on Thursday May 21st and questioned on suspicion of a number of offences. Essex Police confirmed that the CPS has authorised multiple charges against the pair, including rape and sexual assault, and they have both been remanded in custody. Howard-Smith and Reames were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation linked to the owners of the Maldon & Tiptree Town football club, which has recently seen Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and Scott Drewitt-Barlow charged with multiple offences including rape, sexual assault, and modern slavery trafficking for sexual exploitation. They have also been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 5th June.

@stellacreasy The law is clear. The reason why trans people are upset is bc people like you lied to them. You told trans identifying men they could go wherever they wanted. You participated in their fantasies. If they’re upset now it’s not bc of the law or the guidance. It’s because of you.

The new EHRC guidance on how to ensure equal rights of all to access basic services falls short of being inclusive or workable in the real world - I will continue to work with other MPs who recognise this to navigate how we change that. Given how toxic discussion of trans rights has become am not going to respond to comments here because doubt will help anyone. The BBC’s failure to cover the GIDS scandal has been a serious dereliction of its public duty. After resigning as a governor of the Tavistock, I was involved behind the scenes in the 2019 Panorama programme on GIDS. The producer warned me I might be disappointed the programme would expose only one part of the scandal, not the whole story. That warning told me everything I needed to know about the BBC’s problem with impartiality on this issue. When Sue Evans and Keira Bell won the first judicial review, there was no serious follow-up from the BBC News, Woman’s Hour, or other major outlets. Nor was there adequate coverage of one of the most important findings of the Cass Review: the poor quality of the evidence base behind medical interventions for children and adolescents with gender distress. Instead, the BBC repeatedly broadcast positive stories about transition while failing to investigate the harms, uncertainties, and institutional failures surrounding this field. Sue and I have seen some of the casualties. Parents have been badly let down by professional bodies that lacked the courage or independence to challenge the affirmative model none of which received the scrutiny a public broadcaster exists to provide. With honourable exceptions in Newsnight and the Today programme, the BBC has failed young people, failed parents, and failed in its most basic public duty.

I've been meaning to update this for ages. Trans isn't a coherent ideology. Therefore it's not a coherent political identity. There are no rights that trans people don't have. There are no entitlements that can be given - without creating terrible second-order consequences.

Today in Terrible Politicized Court Decisions Made By Judges Who Should Lose Their Jobs, we have the judge who agreed that trans-identifying “Maria” Childers could plead to a misdemeanor and receive time served after molesting an infant in the daycare center he worked in and bragging that the victim “liked it.” I remember when this pervert was arrested. I predicted he’d get a slap on the wrist, and lookey here. It seems the UK isn’t the only country with a two tiered justice system.

Not all young women. Not by any means. And any 'consensus' is meaningless when the price of disagreement is harassment and social exile. You're not measuring opinion, you're measuring fear.

Imagine this: a group of working-class white men flood into Parliament Square on a Saturday afternoon, waving Union Jack flags. Among them are known criminals—some with violent records. They shout abuse, deface statues, urinate on memorials. They hold signs with slogans like “The only good immigrant is a dead one,” “Bring back witch-burning of brown people,” and “Piss on Muslims.” Can you imagine the reaction? The police would be out in full riot gear. Journalists would descend like vultures. Front pages would scream about a fascist uprising. Politicians across the spectrum would line up to condemn it. There would be emergency debates in Parliament. The working class would once again be blamed for dragging Britain into barbarism. It would be treated as a national crisis. Now imagine the same scene—but swap the Fred Perry shirts for dresses. Swap the football chants for chants of “trans rights are human rights.” Keep the abuse. Keep the criminal records. Keep the vandalism and the threats—only now, the targets are women. Lesbians. Feminist. Survivors of male violence. And instead of swastikas or white power slogans, the flags are Progress Pride and trans stripes. Now imagine the reaction. Actually, you don’t have to. Because that happened. And no one cared. There was no national outcry. No political reckoning. No police crackdown. No headlines about hate movements. No pundits drawing historical parallels to fascism or authoritarianism. Instead, there was silence—or worse, celebration. Because these weren’t angry working-class blokes the liberal elite loves to loathe. These were the approved kind of extremists: middle-class men in lipstick, cloaked in the language of rights and inclusion. They can say “die, TERF.” They can threaten rape and disfigurement. They can silence women, stalk them, spit at them, doxx them. They can scream “no debate” while waving signs glorifying violence. And institutions—media, government, academia—will protect them. Not just tolerate them, but fund them. Platform them. Cheer them on. Because identity, in this warped political moment, trumps behaviour. And gender identity, in particular, has become the ultimate shield. It turns men into victims, women into villains, and violence into virtue—so long as it's directed at the right targets. This isn’t just hypocrisy. It’s systemic gaslighting. It’s a two-tier society where some people can say and do anything under the banner of “progress,” while others are hounded for speaking plain truth. We’re told to imagine a dystopia of hate. But the real nightmare is already here—and it’s wearing a dress. #ThisIsTrans
