I was reading a book on the early church (written in 1915) and came across this paragraph regarding the liturgy of the 4th century. It reads exactly like the Novus Ordo liturgy. The Novus Ordo is not new it is in many ways more ancient than most other liturgies.

@JoshuaTCharles @StNickRespecter @jonpalin Let me guess. By saying the claim to the title of universal bishop is the way of Anti-Christ, Pope Greg meant the opposite and actually claimed for himself the title of universal bishop! Amazing how that works!

Nearly 1 in 5 of our nation’s Veterans are Catholic. And while atheists, humanists, and nearly 100 other belief systems can choose their symbol on a VA cemetery headstone, Catholics still cannot choose a crucifix as their emblem of belief. That is why I am advocating that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs add the crucifix as an eligible emblem at our national cemeteries. Their faith deserves to be represented, and I will keep fighting until it is.

@JamesDueck How ridiculous. Christianity did not go wrong for 1500 years or ever. The disciples and apostles immediately started spreading the gospel as missionaries in the Roman empire. The gospel spread quickly and thousands of people joined Christianity.

I was a Protestant for half a century. I have never heard a preacher provide a rational explanation for this⬇️. It was simply assumed (sometimes, perhaps, with a shrug). Little did I know that researching it for myself would lead me to become a Catholic.
Garrett Ham@garrettham_esq

Protestantism's deepest assumption is that Christianity went wrong almost immediately and stayed wrong for 1,500 years. That's not a small claim. It's the entire premise of the movement.

Papists: Sola Scriptura isn’t biblical. Also papists: We must hold to apostolic tradition for faith and morals. Interesting. Where does one find binding apostolic doctrine with certainty? If only the apostles had left us God-breathed writings, publicly inscripturated, sufficient for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. Oh wait.

@ShamelessPopery The catholic church is not the same thing as the roman catholic church. The rcc has distinct doctrines and practices that separates it from the rest of the Christian church.

I admittedly haven't followed all of the latest round of this fight, but it seems like Catholics and Protestants are arguing about whether there's a valid argument from silence to be drawn from the fact that St. Ignatius doesn't mention a bishop in Rome in his letter. Arguments from silence CAN be valid, but they're often not. In this case, let's spell out the argument from Ignatian silence to see just how strong or weak it is. 1. Ignatius writes 6 letters to people and churches that he knows personally, all in Asia Minor, where he's recently been. In each of these, he greets or references their three-tiered hierarchy, and reminds the laity to obey their bishop, presbyters, and deacons. 2. Over the course of these letters, he makes clear that to be a Church it is necessary to have this three-tiered hierarchy. 3. In his letter to Rome, he's greeting a church he doesn't know personally, and rather than giving them parting instructions, he is writing them a deeply-personal letter about his own upcoming martyrdom. 4. In the letter, he not only greets them as a Church, but the presiding Church. 5. Nevertheless, he doesn't greet any of these strangers by name - there's no reference to their bishop or presbyters or deacons. 6. He DOES however, refer to the monepiscopacy twice, in refering to himself as the sole bishop of Syria. From this, we're meant to conclude that... the Romans had presbyters and deacons, but not a bishop?

Breaking : SSPX Bishop Fellay says that there is a high probability that he and other SSPX clergy will be excommunicated. Yeah, well when you directly disobey the Pope that sort of thing happens. Stop claiming to be in submission while actively rebelling.

@CatholicSat This bishop should be reprimanded fully for not being faithful to the Pope! If he has issues, he should elevate to his superiors, and not rant to further confusion.

Flashback to the backlash to Fiducia supplicans by African bishops. Bishop Martin Mtumbuka of Karonga, Malawai: "We have no choice, we cannot allow such an offensive and apparently blasphemous declaration to be implemented in our diocese." "Our major concern with this declaration is that it looks to us like a heresy, it reads like a heresy and it affects heresy, because is asks us to bless two people of same sex, as individuals, but not as a couple, who the previous night sleep together like a couple, presented themselves to us as a couple, are blessed as individuals, but they leave our presence as a couple, they go to their home as a couple, they sleep in the same bed as a couple. But the document says they are not blessed as a couple, although they appear to have been blessed as couple. How could this not be changing the authentic teaching of the Church.” Watch the whole video. It is worth it.

Bonifacio was an activist. Rizal was an activist. They were killed and executed for fighting for the rights of Filipinos. They were considered heroes. So anong pinagkaiba ni Alyssa Alano at ng daan-daang aktibista na pinatay sa pakikipaglaban para sa karapatan ng Pilipino?
