There is a sense of fatigue and frustration in repeatedly posting or complaining about state of environment and public health affairs in our country, and more so on the eve of the Republic Day. The current visual is of the capital of our country, of River Yamuna, which mustn’t be more than 10 kms from where all our military (and therefore economic) might will be at display tomorrow. We are lucky that the war crafts will be visible in the sky tomorrow, because air quality has improved (from being severe to poor!) in last 48 hours, else the sound of the crafts would have been the DD commentary. What’s a frothing river or a bad AQI, it’s the report of a republic, that something is terribly amiss. There is Constitution and there is Constitutionalism, and fundamental of our existence or nations existence, has to be based on principles of life, and not so called progress at the cost of our lives. Remember that while Delhi will witness the Republic Day parade, at least 50% of Delhi’s water taps will be running dry, for almost 6 days in a row, because water is so polluted that our treatment plants have also given up. My idea is not to shame anyone, but just to solicit responsibility and prompt and proportionate action. Jai Ho! (Video credit: Earth Warriors)
