@AlboMP Labor’s own example shows Jack. Jack is a battler who finally made a modest gain. Jack will now pay higher taxes thanks to Labor thinking he made too much profit. Jack is now a right winger and will never vote Labor again

@ClareONeilMP You caused the housing crisis through insane mass immigration and 5% deposit scheme while being way behind the supply curve. Now you claim you know how to fix it lol 😂

Many are left leaning. It’s a fallacy and Labor propaganda to believe investors are all greedy right wing boomers. Many are young people just trying to get ahead by investing in shares or crypto. Now they will pay more taxes and less chance to get ahead. Labor’s own example shows a typical battler but Jack is now a right winger lol own goal

@AlboMP $250 in a few years is more money in our pocket? If people believe this there are either incredibly poor or brainwashed. Taxing investments more is helping who to get ahead ?

We’re making sure hard work pays off and everyone has the opportunity to get ahead. Giving young Australians a fair go at buying their first home. And putting more money in your pocket with tax cuts. Our Budget delivers for you.

Really disappointed by the overreach of taxing Capital Gains at a minimum of 30% despite the taxpayers' marginal tax rate. A naked grab, and ignoring the fairness of assessing tax based on the taxpayers' marginal tax rate. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory #Budget2026

@AvidCommentator 😂 mate, are you absolutely right? This is the worst possible example you could ever create in your mind. There is not one 22yr old who works at Woolworths who is investing into Index Funds. Take the hyperbole down about a 1000 notches.

This is Emily (hypothetical). She is 22 years old and works part time at a supermarket while at uni, she is very frugal and puts most of her pay into index fund ETF's. When she sells those she will be slugged at 30% minimum capital gains tax, despite being a low income earner.

@TheAusInstitute @MattGrudnoff @GrogsGamut You people have no idea. Incentive to sell and cash in has been removed with CGT changes, instead people will hold and raise rents and cash in that way. Morons

@AngusTaylorMP Labor’s budget paper even shows how a normal battler who made a very modest profit will pay an additional $1,600 in taxes just because Labor thinks he made “too much” profit. Socialism at its finest

@greenytrades Funny reading in Labor’s budget paper how a normal battler who finally made some decent gains get slugged with an additional $1,600 in tax because he made “too much” profit. What a disgrace

Government’s plan to help you build wealth in Australia: ❌ 50% CGT discount gone ❌ Negative gearing killed for new investors ❌ 30% minimum tax on capital gains ❌ Trust income hit with 30% floor Translation: the rules that built wealth for the last generation don’t apply to you anymore. Adapt or stay broke.

@JEChalmers Even in your own fucking budget papers do you show how a normal battler would be paying HIGHER taxes. Labor has fucked the younger generation by taxing people more for taking the risk to invest to try and get ahead

Even in Labor’s own budget paper do they admit that a typical battler who finally made some modest gains would be taxed $1,600 more. It’s a tax grab and makes it harder for young people to invest to try and get ahead. Just awful

@AshPolitik So Labor battler Jack who finally had a very modest win of $10,000 and by taking all the risk gets slugged with an extra $1,600 in tax because Labor thinks he made too much profit. Labor is garbage
