The Catholic moral teaching on sex has never changed. Sex outside of marriage is a sin. Period. Furthermore, divorce, contraception, abortion are also sins. None of that has ever changed. Much of Protestantism argues that none of those things are absolute. Easy answer. N

A common critique made by Roman Catholic apologists online —recently echoed by @metathomist— is that Protestant objections to Rome are often driven by a desire for fewer moral constraints, particularly in the area of sexual ethics. But what do the actual statistics reveal? According to Pew Research, 62% of Catholics say casual sex is sometimes or always acceptable, compared to 45% of Protestants overall and just 36% of evangelicals. That alone complicates the narrative. If we are measuring moral permissiveness by attitudes toward casual sex, Roman Catholics (on average) are more permissive than Protestants, and significantly more than evangelicals. But the most revealing category is not denomination, it is those who actively practice their faith tradition: •Among those who attend religious services monthly or more, only 35% say casual sex is acceptable. •Among those who attend less than monthly, that number jumps to 75%. In other words, the real divide is not Protestant vs. Catholic. It is practicing vs. non-practicing. That said, even within that framework, the data still speaks loudly: •Evangelicals (36%) are the least permissive; •Protestants overall (45%) fall in the middle; •Catholics (62%) are the most permissive among the three So the claim that Protestant theology leads to greater sexual license simply does not hold up under scrutiny. If anything, the data suggests the opposite.

Mueller found evidence of Trump's interference in the investigation, but, because Trump became President, wasn't allowed to pursue it any further.

One of the biggest problems in society today is that we no longer share a common set of basic facts. Without that, you cannot have a healthy discourse, or really any discourse at all. Too many people either do not know basic facts or have been led to believe things that simply are not true. In real life, almost no one knows that the Russia collusion plot was cooked up by the Clinton campaign, or that there is a transcript proving Flynn did not lie, or that the Ukraine impeachment scam began the morning after Mueller’s train wreck testimony because they needed a new hoax, or that Fauci demonstrably sent money and technology to the Wuhan lab for them to create deadly coronaviruses. The list goes on and on. And yet, in polite society, you are still treated like a crank for knowing these things rather than repeating the approved version of events. That is a very big problem. So until there is at least some agreement on basic, provable facts, there is no real point in debating anything. If the inputs are garbage, the outputs will be too.

Empirically speaking: The movement from Catholic --> Protestant is way larger than the opposite direction. In the 1970s: 8% of Catholics became Protestants 3% of Protestants became Catholic. In the 2020s: 12% of Catholics -> Protestants 3% of Protestants -> Catholic

I'm sorry but all the lukewarm Catholics who claim "the church never taught us this" about any Catholic teaching gives the same energy as people saying "schools never taught us personal finance" It taught you addition and subtraction, that's all you need to stay out of debt. If you want to invest, that's your responsibility to look up the best strategy Likewise, the church gave you the 10 commandments and the sacraments. That's all you need to stay out of hell. If you want to get deeper into theology and typology, that's your responsibility.
