“We are totally destroying the terrorist regime of Iran, militarily, economically, and otherwise, yet, if you read the Failing New York Times, you would incorrectly think that we are not winning. Iran’s Navy is gone, their Air Force is no longer…” - President Donald J. Trump

What do Iranians inside the country actually think about the war? “The bombing is heavy… but we have been frightened and terrorized for almost 50 years.” A powerful piece by @dpatrikarakos speaking directly to people inside Iran. Essential reading. thefp.com/p/what-iranian…

There’s a striking juxtaposition right now: many Iranians celebrating, while some in the West mourn Khamenei. Strange times. Grateful to @dpatrikarakos @KhosroIsfahani and @siavashrokni for helping explain this moment. Inside Iran, people are risking their lives to thank PM Netanyahu and President Trump. "In the end, the truth will come out in the Kingdom of God. And that is good enough for me." Jimmy Lai is a devout Catholic who has sacrificed everything for his beliefs. From a Hong Kong prison cell, he reads the Gospel each day by the little light he has. He has even been denied Communion as a means to weaken his faith. Yet he continues to pray, even for his Communist captors, hoping they too will one day feel the grace of God. Jimmy Lai's body may be imprisoned, but his spirit is not. #FreeJimmyLai

78-year-old Jimmy Lai was unjustly sentenced to 20 years in prison for advocating democracy in Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s governing documents mean nothing: freedom of speech and the press are dead under CCP rule. Beijing is in no position to lecture the world. #FreeJimmyLai

Zubayr al-Bakoush will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Let this be clear: if you commit a crime against the American people, the Trump Admin will find you, & justice will be served.

The regime has been preparing for a massacre of this scale for at least two decades. It knows how deeply it is hated, and it knows its only tools are repression and violence. Professor Abbas Milani calls it what it is: a murderous regime. It has survived by killing. That has been its manifesto since day one under Khomeini. But as @milaniabbas points out, something has fundamentally changed. The people are no longer afraid. And once fear is gone, what does the regime have left? Can it really survive by killing and killing and killing? Watch the full episode of Eye for Iran: youtube.com/watch?v=WF5-wD…
