On Monday, May 5th, Governor Bill Lee issued his first and only veto from his time as governor – HB 527 / SB 455.
Tennessee’s District Attorneys General denounce this decision and strongly urge the Tennessee General Assembly to vote to override the Governor’s action.

'This is the singular most important bill to public safety that we have evaluated in the last 11 years.' Huge thanks to Executive Director Stephen Crump and all of the @TNDAGC for backing the constitutional amendment put forth by me and @SenJohnson to protect Tennesseans from violent criminals. No more revolving door—public safety comes first!

Yesterday, we met with our TN congressional delegation to discuss how proposed cuts to the Federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding would negatively affect our state. We’re leaving DC confident our voices were heard and that our federal partners are fighting for our state!
