I still don’t understand something. Why are PhD students in Nigeria paying school fees? PhD is not school in the normal sense. It’s research work. You’re producing knowledge. You’re teaching undergrads. You’re publishing papers. You’re raising the university’s ranking. In every sane system: – PhD students are funded – Their tuition is covered – They are paid stipends for research and teaching In Nigeria? We treat the highest level of knowledge production like a burden instead of an investment. You can’t starve research and expect innovation. Education in Nigeria is just upside down.

🚨🇺🇸🇻🇪 VENEZUELA’S INTERIM PRESIDENT: "WE GOVERN OURSELVES" Trump said the U.S. would "run" Venezuela during the transition and threatened a "second strike" if Rodriguez doesn't comply with American demands. Venezuela's Interim President Delcy Rodríguez is publicly rejecting that narrative: "The government of Venezuela governs in our country, no one else. There is no external agent that governs Venezuela. It is Venezuela; it is its constitutional government." Whether this is genuine defiance or political theater for domestic consumption, she's making it clear she doesn’t want Venezuela to be seen as a U.S. puppet state. Source: @PolymarketIntel

After careful consideration, I have decided to step away completely from the Professional Tennis Players Association. This decision comes after ongoing concerns regarding transparency, governance, and the way my voice and image have been represented.

The past doesn’t vanish. It embeds. It’s there in the background influencing how we love, how we guard, how we hope. We say we’ve moved on but language is a liar. We don’t move on; we move with. And perhaps the deepest form of healing is not erasure, but integration.

🇳🇬 BREAKING - Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on December 23, 2025, granted a state pardon to Sunday Jackson, a farmer who had spent about 11 years on death row after being convicted for killing a herdsman during an attack on his farm. The pardon was granted under the governor’s constitutional prerogative of mercy as part of a Christmas and New Year clemency exercise. The decision was based on recommendations from the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy and was officially confirmed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou. Governor Fintiri also pardoned two other inmates and commuted the remaining sentences of five others, citing good conduct. The pardon of Sunday Jackson brings to an end a long-running campaign by human rights groups, religious bodies, and civil society organizations who had argued that he acted in self-defence.

A bomb blast killed four people in Borno but the story is even sadder. They were scavengers looking for scrap metal to sell, to survive. But the “scrap” they picked up was a bomb. In war and insecurity, the most vulnerable always pay the highest price.
