My #vibejam sticky puppet just learned to rope swing. Dont mind the chaotic physics testing jungle gym :) All physics is completely custom built with Ai, no libraries. I need it to feel just right. I expect to get less productive now since its getting fun to play.

@jaredatjared Yeah exactly thats a good idea. I just dont know if units of different types will merge into a blob or if the player needs to manage every unit type for more interesting strategies. I think the latter

@TTrussner Looking cool! I wonder if you could build a state machine where you have Front line with spears Back line with bows. Or in other words defenders and attackers kind of thing. Works a bit like chess, with different pieces having different roles/behaviors maybe?

Today: improved shading and implemented simple battles v1. I've been possessed by the spirit of true vibe coding, haven't looked at the code once since starting. It's already such a mess that every new feature is a hassle, and the result is the most boring fighting I've ever seen.

The units are all client side, the server just models blobs. I generate some "particles" (pairs of units) that jiggle and move around like molecules with brownian motion and it looks a lot like fighting.

Pvp is fully working and I love how it turned out! It wasnt easy After I add villagers / gatherers the core mechanics are complete and its ready for playtesting. #vibejam

Started building debug tools to dig myself out of this mess. I want the gameplay rules to be almost like chess: discrete and simple. But then procedurally create all units and drama on the client side. Good for gameplay, network efficiency, and AI understanding what's going on.

Units now have swords and shields and it looks super satisfying when they move in formation. The foundation for all networking works well now, units aggregate into blobs which are much cheaper to send over the network, allowing huge armies. #vibejam

You can actually talk to the NPCs I hooked them up to my openai API key, and each NPC has their own prompt for their character using 5o mini to respond 😆 (pls dont burn all my tokens) Will be cool to expand the NPCs to actually be live AIs in the city #vibejam #gamedev #ai

The city the agents built is a bit wonky, but it did a great job building the system We have a nice world/tile edit mode too, so we can make a real city later Building games with AI goes a lot smoother when loading some game assets into the project before it gets going, so it has something to work with #vibejam

My vibejam entry will be an online multiplayer RTS game inspired by age of mythology. In a post AGI world the ancient greek gods woke up in Canada for a battle agains software giants. You play as Neo-Hellas or MichaelSoft. Resources are compute, biomass and material.

I will be making an online first RTS Game with lots of units for vibejam. I will start with the hard parts first: tons of units and networking. Next is procedural animations. Also I have very little time this month so got to focus on the important parts only and be creative.
