@IyegereS Brain dead maybe. If they put Stormfront's brain in her body that could be interesting. And then use it as a miracle.

Hard agree! Software engineering has always been a human activity. “Forget that and all is lost” — Bjarne Stroustrup. There will always be software engineers, because there will always be software to be engineered. The AI’s will take over more and more of the grunt work, and the nitty-gritty details that interfere with the human part of the activity. But the human activity of software engineering will continue; and it will require technical expertise.

@Interested95071 @LNBDublin Mate they are paying that tax. It is reducing a tax not increasing spending. There is plenty of waste in the government to cut that the people would be happy with.

@LNBDublin It would cost over 4 billion to cut the vat on diesel by 10c a litre. More so it cut it more. What you going to cut to pay for that Lynn?

In my column today, I set out why financial support for Ukraine is 100% in our own self-interest. If Putin wins there'll be more refugees, more wars and price shocks. I also set out why the carbon tax and climate action can free the next generation from the roller coaster of fossil fuel prices we've had to deal with since the 1970's

@MeadowCapital @newryhurler1 You can compare two things without saying they are identical. Otherwise comparisons would be useless. No they are asking for a reduction in tax.

@TaeTimeCode @newryhurler1 You can't compare company to a country. Company is a dictatorship. Micheal has a tax-funded budget that he works with. Incidentally, the fuel protestors want what? Subsidies. Hand outs. If Micheal agrees. He will have to reroute money intended for someone else to them.

Dear Lord as many who follow me here know I'm no fan of Micheal Martin but the man is entitled to celebrate his daughter's wedding and indeed with a degree of privacy ...same way he should be able to go watch his son play for Cork without people abusing him ...

@MeadowCapital @newryhurler1 Mate look at it like a CEO running a company. If the company fails the CEO is to blame. You take the role you take the blame. If you don't have solutions and are in over your head have the pride to leave.

@TaeTimeCode @newryhurler1 From what you've written, you have a bit of a cartoonish "big bad man" view of Micheal. The problem is the job itself. No one person can do everything. Only, honestly, children think one man is a superman. The protestors are showing you how things change : collectively.

@MeadowCapital @newryhurler1 How many have lost children/parents due to his actions over the years? I don't care for people to hate me. If you can't tell he hates a large portion of our population I don't know what to say. The world is a fair place being nice to horrible people doesn't reward you.

@TaeTimeCode @newryhurler1 I have a mindset of "We need to be the change we want to see in society." It's no good us wanting a decent society but then doing undecent stuff to get it. Micheal lost a daugther. Very sad. Now another is getting married. Show some decency. Or else how can you ask for it.

@LiosGlas49 @DavQuinn Yes Europe can bid poorer countries and we do have reserves it'll be no where near a 20% reduction. Demand would also reduce if the government pushed for work from home. But na it'd be too easy.

@LiosGlas49 @DavQuinn Not true at all. You can just bid higher to get the oil someone else would get. It is a global supply.

@DavQuinn On 27 Feb oil demand matched oil supply in Ireland. Then the madman Trump launched a war leaving Ireland’s oil supply cut by 20%. Ergo, oil demand must fall in Ireland by a corresponding 20%, otherwise Ireland runs out of oil. This can only be achieved by much higher prices.

@EO_Halloran What can be achieved is to reduce the duty to the EU minimum and VAT to 10% this would drop the price at the pump for diesel to around 1.80. The gov would loose some revenue but, long term it may keep other prices lower and keep some businesses open.

To be clear Ireland currently taxes ~50% of fuel after cutting excise duties. That's now below the EU average of 52% Anyone claiming it's 65% is just repeating a misinformed statement. And that misinformation is fueling what these protests think can be achieved #fuelprotest

My strongest blackpill belief is that UBI will lead to an overwhelming amount of mental illness most people if they are honest w themselves need external boundaries and challenges imposed on them You're asking everyone on the planet to self-govern their whole lives when most cant even go to bed on time now when they have work early

Yes and no. The human brain doesn’t store information like a digital recording. It keeps certain important bits and reconstructs the rest as needed. Some parts of a decision may have been unconsciously achieved and a record may not have been stored. Which can cause you to surprise yourself when asked to explain why you made a decision. The brain is forced to pull the unconscious process into conscious focus to work on it as a skill. That can lead to impotent deep-learning. (Though my “favorite” situation is cognitive dissonance. The brain almost always resolves this by wiping the new information to return to the comfortable former belief. 😑) It’s all a bit too complex for an X post. But what is known is that we do have conscious reasoning processes. That allows us to experience activities like deep-learning that build new unconscious processes by examining their structure in the conscious brain. Unlike LLMs which are simply echoing human behavior of the past and “make up” excuses by simply repeating what is in their training set.

Stop asking the LLM why it did or didn’t do something. IT HAS NO IDEA. The “AI” is just an array of messages that get fed through a static data structure on each request. The transformer network has to rebuild the state of “thought” from that history every time. A state that’s promptly forgotten the moment the request ends. Which means that the LLM is inventing a plausible explanation based on the chat history rather than having knowledge of why it did or didn’t do something.

@davepl1968 @AutisticCoach_ I think the argument is about leverage. If communication difficulties are downstream effects of anxiety or overload, then targeting the upstream regulation issues may give broader improvements than just focusing on communication technique.

Most autistic adults are trying to solve structural problems with personal effort. Trying "harder" - communicating "better" - "optimising" Meanwhile the real issue is that we were never taught how our nervous systems work. It's a systemic issue.
