Evidence from activists, and private admissions from agency staff themselves, points to dogs being abandoned in remote uninhabited areas where they face a slow, certain death. There are also reports of far worse. A shelter crematorium ran for seven hours overnight. Some claim dogs may have been burned alive. This issue has exploded across Georgian society. It's dominating the news cycle. Over 37,000 people signed our joint statement. Activists have held repeated protests, with one scheduled for tomorrow. But this is the same regime that has ignored nearly 500 days of continuous pro-democracy protests across 8+ Georgian cities, arresting, fining, and torturing its own citizens. The dog in the photo was brought to a shelter for a terrible paw injury.
