I may get flamed for this but I think Bungie’s downfall wasn’t launching Marathon, but not beating Arc Raiders to launch. I see a world in that Marathon came first then that would have fueled the next generation of Destiny. Could just be copium watching both my loves fall

It’s baffling that people think Marathon should die because it “killed” D2 but then want D3 to happen. Think for a second, D2 isn’t making a profit anymore, the only other IP generating money is Marathon. For D3 to happen, Marathon succeeding would help push for a green light.

There is literally no community on earth more RAPED than the Destiny community. This developer stole THOUSANDS of dollars worth of content from it's customers, developed the most predatory monetization the industry has EVER SEEN, they literally went to game dev conferences and told people one of their lessons was to NEVER OVER DELIVER to their playerbase. Bungie has treated the Destiny community with nothing but contempt and demanding more money. Then they killed the game so their pet project DEI extraction shooter could flop and not even break 100k concurrent players on PC. So what do Bungie fans do? They sit there and proclaim that you MUST give bungie money to keep the lights on so we get a D3. YOU MUST PLAY THE WOKE SLOP. People are interpreting this as some sort of battle cry, but it's the reality that people are upset about Marathon taking away resources from D2, which it did, to launch and perform poorly anyway. This is not subjective, it's what happened. Marathon is certainly not *the* reason Destiny 2 is dissolving. Leadership, lack of foresight, post-TFS plans, layoffs are the main culprits, but it's disingenuous to pretend it's in some separate silo somewhere and isn't involved in this at all.

"I enjoy @pathofexile 2 but can't be bothered to re-clear the campaign every season..." Is this you? How come? I've seen both sides of the argument, but I'm curious where you sit on PoE 2's approach to seasons, vs Last Epoch / PoE1 / D3 / D4 etc. Length of campaign? Difficulty?

@PorkPoncho I dont think its a matchmaking issue. There just needs to be more "options" for endgame. Endgame quests that are grindy and challenging but reward players greatly. Like the kappa quest in tarkov. Right now, the only endgame is cryo and ranked. Endgame versions of current maps?

Cryo Archive feels genuinely oppressive right now. I don't know how they fix this but the matchmaking seems so out of control for higher season level people. Yes "git gud", "its endgame" etc etc but these are the sorts of things that make the potentially long term Marathon players (and therefore customers) fall off hard. Right now its just teams of hardcore players running around with the sole objective of stopping people from actually experiencing the vaults and then the compiler. I don't think the actual map and its AI need to be changed but something about the matchmaking has to. If they want to keep people hooked, they need to feel that the complier kill is achievable because right now its miserable for many who aren't playing this game for 8 hours a day. No I don't think a PvE version is the answer at all. I know both @Skarrow9 and @RyGilliam touched on this as well in their own tweets and videos. Hope Bungie can pull something off here.

@ItsBobbySocks I dont think so. I crew fill all the time and I get sponsored kits on my team all time while im in a 8k kit. Its level based im pretty sure.

Pretty sure I figured out the matchmaking in Marathon. Seems to be kit based. Go in with a sponsored kit and it’s ez breezy, but fully kit out and you match against the sweatiest extraction gremlins

@tonybezjak @MarathonDevTeam Terrible take. Me and my squad have spawned in freekits on outpost multiple times and came out with full purple. The come up potential is insane.

@MarathonDevTeam I'd love to see matchmaking based on team loadout average value. I'm tired of spawning in with a free kit and getting absolutely blasted by full purple+ teams.
