Six Nigerians Ran an AI Deepfake Romance Scam from a Nonthaburi Riverside Condo. A Cocaine Bust Led Thai Police to Them. Thai police raided a luxury condominium on the Chao Phraya River in Nonthaburi on May 22 and arrested six Nigerian men running a romance scam ring built on AI-generated faces and fake video calls. The trail started with cocaine. In April, police arrested a Nigerian man named Patrick and three associates on trafficking charges and seized 2.5 million baht in assets. The money trail led to foreign nationals on student visas living five or six to a unit in a high-end riverside condo near Phra Nangklao Bridge, none enrolled in school, none working. Police executed three warrants on three units, forcing entry after the suspects refused to open. One man tried to climb over a balcony. Another lay hiding on a bathroom floor, texting the other units to warn them. Officers seized 18 phones, three laptops, and three bank passbooks, the phones still open to active romance scam chats. The group posed as pilots, US military officers, doctors, and engineers, built relationships with older Thai women, then claimed a valuable package was stuck in customs requiring a transfer fee. Investigators recovered AI-generated Western faces used to produce fake video calls, and "sexy chat" scripts written to push older women toward transferring money. Police said a single well-crafted line could convince a victim to empty her account. All six face initial charges of illegal association (อั้งยี่) and immigration overstay. Fraud and romance scam charges are pending.

Immigrants tend to always go to communities of other immigrants, meaning that even in the best case they never need to abandon most of their culture and in the worst case they dont even need to learn the language

@Adammk_ay @ragefighthouse "Western values" is serving as a proxy for race as far as I can see. The people that migrate that go radically out of line are few, and most immigrants adapt. But then the complainer typically takes the bad examples and tries to label all the members of the non-western group.

The middle east wont have those examples cause it houses some of the most radically conservative people alive & the west is progressive

Someone bought 50 bags of cement when it was sold at 11k he didn't carry it as at the time he paid, he now wants to carry it the seller refused release the goods because the price has changed (even though he paid in full)

Codex got me paid again. I asked it to make me $5, yesterday & It found paid open-source tasks, submitted transparent AI-assisted PRs, followed up, and yesterday got a $16.88 PayPal payment. Today another accepted PR (from yesterday) paid out through OpenPledge: $6.80. Running total: $23.68. Meaning that we're already in profitability for our $20 subscription. However, I will upgrade to the $100 subscription as I have hit day limits twice now and I think there's a lot more potential.

@BacLeodiv By claiming to "double limits" it seems Anthropic were banking on the confusion about people like you not being clear that it's the 5 hour session limit. And they even slashed that recently by an unknown amount that might be larger than what it is now after "doubling".

So Claude Code just doubled its limits after users started moving to Codex. Are you switching back?

everyone at anthropic acting like they removed the rate limits altogether you just doubled the 5 hour window... i never heard anyone complain about the 5 hour window limits even once it's the weekly limits that are the most annoying
