@parvizbd That was the alias used by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther while he wrote from Wartburg Castle. Perhaps the Synod, in its advisory capacity, should censure and reprimand our great German father as well?

@TheEXECUTlONER_ These might be 1st world problems, but the source of them is 3rd world labor.

This woman, a fellow North Texan, had a 40,000 gallon, ten foot deep, salt water Gunite pool, spa, patio, planter overlooking the pool, waterfalls, swim up bar, and more constructed in her backyard for $178K!
Looks awesome doesn’t it?
Stamped and painted concrete, lights that change colors, the whole nine yards.
But if you look closer, you start to see the issues. Cracks in the concrete, tiles uneven, a patio that pools up water, an unfinished planter, etc. the list goes on and on.
When she pointed out these defects to the construction company, they walked off the job failing to complete the work.
So what does someone do?
In North Texas there seems to be a whole lot of protection for the contractor but very little for the consumer.
In this type of situation they were paying on a schedule-- 25% for this, 25% for the next phase and so on.
She is not going to name the company just yet as legalities enter the picture. There are dates in play and August 11th is a date circled on the calendar.
In Texas you have something like 30 days to notify the contractor of issues and then they have something like 30-60 days to respond whether they are going to fix the issues, offer money, etc.
They started in December and it is now July. 🤯
Before you say that’s way too much, this pool and backyard has all the upgrades. The planter was to have two fire bowls on each end, waterfalls and then plants and flowers overlooking the pool. A diving board, a lounge pool, a spa that seats 8-10 people, custom tile and decorative trim, lit stairs. They went all out.
But now she is stuck with all the issues and flaws and cannot get anyone else willing to finish the work. Yep, first world problems but you would definitely want everything perfect for that amount of money. 100% perfect. 💯
This is exactly why I’m hesitant to have an underground pool installed with a patio and all. Too many worries about upkeep and the job being done right.
Issues like this seem to rampant. Some people seems to have some good luck and others seem to have nothing but nightmares.
You are the homeowner- list the steps you would take in this situation.

This can also be an allegory about our own country. People are so passionate about spreading the gospel in a foreign land, while their home country becomes more apostate than the foreign country they leave to.

Two of my BILs were missionary kids. Their parents left them in boarding schools for years. One of their parents dropped him off at 4 yrs old and just left without telling him. He was scared and heartbroken. The other one falls asleep immediately, because he learned in boarding school if he did this, he wouldn’t cry himself to sleep. Their parents taught others about Jesus instead of their own children. My husband is an MK too. He was raised at home by his parents, thankfully.

@_Link_ @beerundbacon Oh my gosh, it’s way worse than that.
“Your knees are starting hurting 45 years after your enlistment ended, it’s clearly service related. It has nothing to do with the fact that you have been 300 lbs for the last 40 years. Here is 60%.”

@beerundbacon Here’s your 10%. On all your post deployment surveys you said you were healthy.
Followed up by the paperwork nerd who stayed in the rear getting 100%.

Losing an election is not an indictment on the principles, but highlights the fact that the organization was not yet strong enough to take on the transRepublican machine in red states.
Not enough conservatives participate, and of those who do, too many treat politics like a seasonal hobby: complain during session, panic during election season, (a select few) volunteer, vote, lose, and disappear. Meanwhile, the RINO machine keeps organizing, fundraising, recruiting, pressuring, and preparing for the next fight.
That must end.
We don’t need another round of gloomy commentary about what corrupt politicians, consultants, lobbyists, special interests, and bureaucrats are doing to us. We already know what they are doing. The question is whether we are willing to build the organization required to stop them.
We must identify the people harmed by bad government, unite them around clear issues, train activists, recruit principled candidates, build a serious donor network, hire competent professionals, expose betrayals, and hold officeholders accountable between, not just during, elections.
Never defend the status quo while the RINO machine advances. Stop allowing them to define every issue. Stop accepting partial surrender as “compromise.” Stop rewarding Republicans who campaign like conservatives and govern like the RINOs they promised to oppose.
A lost race can still produce something valuable: a stronger network, clearer lines, trained leaders, exposed enemies, committed donors, and citizens who finally understand that politics is a long conflict not a one-day event.
So do not retreat. Organize.
Build county by county. Issue by issue. Church by church. Business by business. Family by family.
Be calm. Be disciplined. Be cheerful. Be impossible to intimidate. Tell the truth, expose the failures amd lies, recruit better leaders, and prepare to replace those who compromised and kissed the ring.
The transRepublican machine is counting on conservatives becoming discouraged and going home. They fear those who can’t be bought, intimidated, compromised, flattered, or deterred.
Do not give them what they want. Give them more of what they fear.
Those with unflappable faith in the victory of Christ, shall not be moved.

Wait… WHAT?!
Walmart paid this guy $252,125 over 2.5 years.
He only kept $37,000.
That’s $1,200 a month for two and a half years of pure hell.
$56k in inventory.
$10k in cardboard.
$2,700 in RFID stickers.
$23k in EDI.
$76k to a consolidator.
Then Walmart “accidentally” double-paid him and clawed back $44,000.
New buyer comes in, axes the entire category, leaves him with orphaned inventory and still paying for systems he no longer needs… while waiting 90 days to get paid.
This isn’t a partnership.
This is a meat grinder designed to bleed small American makers dry and then spit them out.
And they still have the audacity to call it “opportunity.”
