Actually this can also be regular baby behavior, my infant gets ahold of my phone if it's just laying there screen off and throws a fit if I take it away; she does the same thing if I take away a piece of plastic or a sock or whatever she's decided is her favorite object that day

@maiab Once your 3.5 stops napping, all the cool things happen during 2's nap time. That's how we handle it and the older kid is sworn to secrecy.

@thecavemommy My kids are 4 and 8. They have separate rooms, but both sleep in my son's room. We fought it, but life is just better and quiet this way. I have no idea how long we'll let it continue, but I'm really hoping one will just get tired of the other.

@WilliamWolfe We got up early to go to a track meet that I really wasn't excited about. Then my son won 1st in the 50 and 100. So exciting and we were all incredibly proud. Watching him get all the high fives in his bashful way is something I never considered and it is absolutely amazing.

Sometimes I see singles or married couples without kids talking about how they would never want to “give up their weekends.” But what they never talk about is what you *get* when you make that “trade” for marriage and kids. We were up bright at and early today, as a whole family, and off to soccer for my two oldest boys. They love it. It’s pushing them, physically and mentally, and as a dad it’s such a joy to see them having fun and developing. Then after soccer we all went to—you guessed it—Costco. Ate lunch in the food court. And yeah, it’s crowded, and the tables are small, but sitting there with my family, my wife, my three boys, and our fourth almost here, it was a blast. I loved it. Finally, we popped into a locally owned comic book/action figure/trading card store. Yeah, my weekends aren’t mine. Haven’t been for a long time now. But they are full of life, laughter, and sometimes crying kids (the three year old broke down leaving the comic book store because it’s past his nap time). Would I trade any of this for more “freedom” to indulge a different lifestyle? Not for a second. Get married. Have kids. Enjoy a full life together. What you get in return is far more than you give up.

@OxPraise @hell_line0 I'm not a girly woman. I wear a little makeup when I leave the house and that's it. My 4 year old is prissy as hell. Wants nails, makeup, perfume, the works. We do those things at home and she prances around, but it goes no further than our walls and it's gonna be a struggle.

Idk what MOM needs to hear this, but your 12-year-old daughter does NOT need a full face of makeup, crop tops, the latest iPhone, or acrylics. She is a CHILD.
