With another attack near the Bushehr nuclear reactor, it is important to understand the potential radiological impacts of an attack on the Bushehr nuclear reactor and consider the possible trajectory of the radioactive plume as it crosses the Persian Gulf. An idea of the trajectory and speed of a radioactive plume following a major accident at Bushehr is charted in graphic below. The radiation would reach the UAE within 24 hours. The chart is from an internal Bushehr emergency planning exercise, not an actual release, prepared by the Russians for Bushehr. It is not the only possible trajectory, and other exercises show different trajectories, although they usually head across the Persian Gulf. Sen. Rehmet was well aware he wouldn’t be appointed to interim committees. Sen. Rehmet won a special election to fill out an unexpired interim term in 2026, in which no bills are filed, voted on, or passed. He has to win in November to serve a full term in the legislature. If he does win in November, he would be assigned committees like anyone else at the beginning of the next legislative session in January 2027. I explained that to him a month ago. He said he understood. Historically, Sen. Flores, Sen. Eckhardt, and Sen. Cook were not appointed to interim committees either following their special election victories in 2018, 2020, and 2024, respectively. The same will apply to Brett Ligon if he wins the Senate District 4 special election in May. Sen. Rehmet’s recent complaint is just a cheap shot to try to score political points for his election. #txlege

Italy has been incapable of reform because of its constitution. It’s so backwards and keeps Italy from development. Meloni’s reform on the judiciary would have been an important step to fixing it. Voters in Italy rejected it but Italian diaspora supported it by the same margin
