@MkFF05 @esopter0 @prestonstew_ The supply routes were fine until trump decided to bomb the country that controls it... thats why they aren't intrested in getting involved. The US navy doesnt even wanna sail through the straight which says a lot.
Trumps been favourable to putin for ages...
English

@ThatSusLad @esopter0 @prestonstew_ No, they have leaders who are too afraid/unwilling to defend trade/supply routes that are vital to their countries. He's not temporarily relaxing sanctions to benefit Putin but rather to remove leverage from Iran in their ability to cripple the global economy. Trump was the...
English

Not to overreact, but an American President calling NATO a paper tiger is probably the kind of thing we'll look back on as a turning point in the alliance.
A lot of agreements are built on the perception of strength, the idea of what could come together if needed. Saying there's nothing there pretty quickly strips NATO of a lot of it's power.
If an alliance isn't as strong as hoped, then we build it up, reform or leave. Publicly announcing to our adversaries that NATO is weaker than they think only benefits those who wish to do us harm.
English

@MkFF05 @esopter0 @prestonstew_ So France, Spain and the UK who have leaders who have stood uo for their countries iver the last month he still has a go at. While relaxing sanctions on his friend that is putin...
English

@esopter0 @prestonstew_ NO! Trump respects leaders who are unafraid to act in their/country's own interest. He despises leaders who refuse to stand up for their citizens out of a self-guilt/hate. Trump DOES advance US interests and opposes Putin/Xi while respecting that they act in their own interest.
English

@hissgoescobra @prestonstew_ That’s combined, and NATO only defends Europe which makes them useless anywhere else, so not really relevant at all.

@MrBoldOne @EmiratesFACup Enjoy your quadruple, pal.
English

@Planet_Central @sonehabriot Israel has never helped you. They just love your free money and weapons.
English

@sonehabriot I strongly prefer Israel-Japan-Iran(soon) over useless Europeans
English

@FactPush @JamesMacCleary Your reading comprehension is poor.
English

Because we have nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. They are expensive if you hadn't realised.
It is also Easier if the Americans give you loads of free stuff - 🇬🇧$10B vs 🇮🇱 $244B. This is up to 2024 so 🇮🇱 is certainly higher.
I hope this answers your question Doug.

🇬🇧UK Military Spend ████████████████████ $82B 🇮🇱Israel Military Spend ███████████ $46B Why does Britain get so little for all that defence spending?
English

@LarrryC1 @JossSheldon I didnt think sorry, TRUMP said that last year it was gone. Like this year he has said they decimated Iranian military multiple times, yet they still need everyone's help..
English

@ThatSusLad @JossSheldon You thought a lot of stuff. The strikes at Natanz only slowed it down. And these strikes only slow it unless the 60% enriched Uranium is removed.
English

@LarrryC1 @JossSheldon I thought trump destroyed that in 2025 though?
English

@JossSheldon You're off your rocker if you think Europe would feel safer with a nuclear armed Iran. They revealed they already have missiles capable of hitting European Capitols. Would they have relied on U.S.'s nuclear umbrella? Not France)
English

@IR1404US47 @silviamolguero1 @scfitnessnz @allenanalysis You lot will believe anything. Also the US isn't our longest ally by a long way.
English

@ThatSusLad @silviamolguero1 @scfitnessnz @allenanalysis No, as President Trump said, it was a test to see if the IRGC-supporting prime minister would stand by its longest ally or give in to the IRGC.
English

@IR1404US47 @silviamolguero1 @scfitnessnz @allenanalysis Don't need us but Trump was crying until the UK let them use RAF bases in the UK and Diego Garcia...
English

@silviamolguero1 @scfitnessnz @allenanalysis Can’t wait until are out of NATO. We have been paying for NATO for decades. We don’t need you guys. Let’s see if you havw same attitude when Russia and Jihadi attacking you.
Also, isn’t the Spain who are supporting IRGC? Yet another reason to get out.
English

@indigoman1962 @JohnCleese The straite would be open if it wasn't for Trump. Also Trump was the one who negotiated with Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan...
English

@JohnCleese Guess you are the ignorant in this case.
You should see Trump as your best friend regarding fighting Islam.
Both in the breading grounds and domestically.
English

@charles_wiehrs @JohnCleese You're either delued or just dumb as fuck.
English

@JohnCleese They didn’t come to our rescue and we’ve been bankrolling NATO since the beginning
English

@purplehaze2015 @JohnCleese Thats the issue we have always been a vassal state...
English

@JohnCleese You are missing the point!
He is calling Britain to be Britain.
Will you answer the call.
You have ALWAYS stood the gap
English

@SaltyPepper008 @JohnCleese Unless you are 5. You've seen it NATO helping the US in the middle east...
English

@JohnCleese Explain why you disagree? In my lifetime, I've not seen Europe help us via NATO?
I see Europe committing social suicide and hating on Trump but not the gangs of rapists.
Crying abt Putin but buying energy from him...
English

@tommysantos14 @sethjlevy Deals written on paper with evil terrorists are worth nothing.
English

People owe Trump and Ratcliffe apologies.
Basically Iran had missiles capable of delivering a nuclear warhead to every major European city.
Influencers may have been willing to role that dice but Trump wasn’t.

Max Abrahms@MaxAbrahms
Iran’s leaders are too dumb to realize they just reinforced the case for war against them.
English

This, and it's not even close.

Twitter turns 20. What is your favorite tweet of all time?
English

@simonjjtaylor @Leonard73714140 We didn't invoke article 5. Unlike the US.
English

@EnlightenStS @horne1995 @Leonard73714140 The last time the Falklands voted on that subject the result was 99.8% to stay as part of the UK.
English

@horne1995 @Leonard73714140 You do know about 1776 (US declaration of independence) and the Treaty of Paris (1783) in which the UK accepted that independence? Both predate the highlighted bit by quite a few years...
English

@doctorwinston2 @Leonard73714140 And U.K. didn't invoke article 5. They did the fighting themselves
English

@mikaelnunez @dfc_sussex @Microinteracti1 Why? The only reason the US invaded is because the Israelis have such a large lobby in the US. Only 3% of Oil in Europe comes from the strait.
English

@dfc_sussex @Microinteracti1 It's a statement, not a proposal. The US will line them up and tell them what to do. Except for Japan, which has a valid reason for the delay, Europe should be spanked for being stupid and ungrateful. "It's not our war" LOL
English

Six governments. One page. A lot left unsaid. The UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan have issued a joint statement condemning Iran’s attacks on commercial shipping and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz. They call on Iran to stop the mines, the drones, the missiles. They invoke UN Security Council Resolution 2817. They express “readiness” to help ensure safe passage.
What they don’t say is how. No forces named. No timeline. No command structure. “Readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts” is diplomatic language for we’re watching and we haven’t said no yet. The IEA has authorized a coordinated release of strategic petroleum reserves. That’s the most concrete action in the entire document.
The most revealing line may be the last paragraph directed at “all states” to respect international law. That’s not aimed at Iran alone. That’s a signal to anyone else tempted to use this moment.
