@MkFF05 @esopter0 @prestonstew_ The supply routes were fine until trump decided to bomb the country that controls it... thats why they aren't intrested in getting involved. The US navy doesnt even wanna sail through the straight which says a lot. Trumps been favourable to putin for ages...

@ThatSusLad @esopter0 @prestonstew_ No, they have leaders who are too afraid/unwilling to defend trade/supply routes that are vital to their countries. He's not temporarily relaxing sanctions to benefit Putin but rather to remove leverage from Iran in their ability to cripple the global economy. Trump was the...

Not to overreact, but an American President calling NATO a paper tiger is probably the kind of thing we'll look back on as a turning point in the alliance. A lot of agreements are built on the perception of strength, the idea of what could come together if needed. Saying there's nothing there pretty quickly strips NATO of a lot of it's power. If an alliance isn't as strong as hoped, then we build it up, reform or leave. Publicly announcing to our adversaries that NATO is weaker than they think only benefits those who wish to do us harm.

@esopter0 @prestonstew_ NO! Trump respects leaders who are unafraid to act in their/country's own interest. He despises leaders who refuse to stand up for their citizens out of a self-guilt/hate. Trump DOES advance US interests and opposes Putin/Xi while respecting that they act in their own interest.

@hissgoescobra @prestonstew_ That’s combined, and NATO only defends Europe which makes them useless anywhere else, so not really relevant at all.

Because we have nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. They are expensive if you hadn't realised. It is also Easier if the Americans give you loads of free stuff - 🇬🇧$10B vs 🇮🇱 $244B. This is up to 2024 so 🇮🇱 is certainly higher. I hope this answers your question Doug.

@ThatSusLad @JossSheldon You thought a lot of stuff. The strikes at Natanz only slowed it down. And these strikes only slow it unless the 60% enriched Uranium is removed.

American forces didn't help British troops in the Falkland Isles, Northern Ireland or Sierra Leone. British forces didn't support the USA in the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia or Loas. Neither country has any divine right to expect support from the other. Trump is off his rocker.

@JossSheldon You're off your rocker if you think Europe would feel safer with a nuclear armed Iran. They revealed they already have missiles capable of hitting European Capitols. Would they have relied on U.S.'s nuclear umbrella? Not France)

🚨 BREAKING: Trump says NATO wouldn’t show up for the United States. After 9/11—they did exactly that. For the first time ever. Allies deployed. Fought alongside us. Paid the price. This man has rocks for brains

@dfc_sussex @Microinteracti1 It's a statement, not a proposal. The US will line them up and tell them what to do. Except for Japan, which has a valid reason for the delay, Europe should be spanked for being stupid and ungrateful. "It's not our war" LOL

Six governments. One page. A lot left unsaid. The UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan have issued a joint statement condemning Iran’s attacks on commercial shipping and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz. They call on Iran to stop the mines, the drones, the missiles. They invoke UN Security Council Resolution 2817. They express “readiness” to help ensure safe passage. What they don’t say is how. No forces named. No timeline. No command structure. “Readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts” is diplomatic language for we’re watching and we haven’t said no yet. The IEA has authorized a coordinated release of strategic petroleum reserves. That’s the most concrete action in the entire document. The most revealing line may be the last paragraph directed at “all states” to respect international law. That’s not aimed at Iran alone. That’s a signal to anyone else tempted to use this moment.
