We remember Trooper James Sauter. Trooper James Sauter was killed when a truck tractor semi struck his squad vehicle on Interstate 294, south of Willow Road, shortly after 11:00 p.m. Trooper Sauter was stopped on the left shoulder of the south-bound lanes when a truck tractor semi rear-ended his squad vehicle. Both vehicles burst into flames. Trooper Sauter was pronounced deceased at the scene. On January 22, 2016, the truck tractor semi driver was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to several felony commercial vehicle violations in connection to the crash. Black man in San Francisco freed Thursday after woke Judge Linda Colfax granted him probation just two months after he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter of an elderly man. The assailant, 25-year-old Antoine Watson, was caught on video in 2021 violently shoving 84-year-old Vicha Ratanapakdee to the ground, which resulted in his death. Ratanapakdee’s daughter says she now fears for her community. On Thursday, Judge Colfax sentenced Watson to eight years in prison; however, she suspended all but the five years he has already served.
