A big mistake guys over 40 make: Using the number on the scale as the only metric to determine how well your fat loss plan is working. Because if you lose 5 lbs of fat and gain 5 lbs of muscle, the number on the scale doesn’t change. But you’ll look leaner and feel better. If you lose 10 lbs and 5 lbs is muscle? You'll look smaller and feel worse. Get a body fat test to tell you the truth.

After 2-4 hard sets on a muscle group. You’re done. Additional sets for the same muscle group produce significantly less tension AND more fatigue, making them ineffective for growth. A solid upper workout may look like Chest press: 2-3 sets Biceps curls: 2-3 sets Triceps extensions: 2-3 sets Lateral raises: 2-3 sets Rows: 2-3 sets It’s really that simple.

I’m a fireman and have 5 consecutive days off between tricks, 2hrs at the gym is standard with 1hr for weights n 1hr for cardio. The workout starts when the lifting ends my friend, better buckle up😉

@TheCount721 @sanman64896464 @gregogallagher That means 24 sets a week for chest… at that high of a volume I know you have shitty intensity. Volume is a substitute for intensity and vice versa. Not to mention the fact that you’re in the gym an excessive amount of time which is not practical for most people

@efrainob7 @sanman64896464 @gregogallagher I’m firm believer in chest/tri, back/bi n legs/shoulders hitting each muscle 2x a week. Atleast 3 exercises each muscle(barbell, dumbbell n machine) with 4-5 sets of each exercise. My body wouldn’t respond well at all to just 2-3 sets

@bowtiedmeathead You didn’t give it enough time. I’m around 2300 calories a day again. Just smaller portions. If anything, you should go down but keep a small amount in your system consistently. The heart benefits and insulin regulation are very good for long term health.

Currently on 2mgs of Reta a week and practically have to force myself to eat on most days. Lost 6 lbs in less than 3 weeks and definitely look much leaner but I could have done it on my own through calorie restriction and cardio. Hate not having an appetite when it’s meal time and I need to hit my macros. Reta is definitely a game changer and makes losing weight easier but that’s not to say it’s for everyone. I will continue to recommend it (selectively) to others, especially those who struggle to lose weight but for myself personally, I’m sticking to the old fashion method of strict diet, discipline and training. It was a good experiment but I’ve determined Reta is not for me.

I always tell people this. You can legit drop about 5-10lbs of body fat in a month. Could take you 1-2 years to even gain 5lbs of muscle. Shows where you should spend the majority of your time.
