The DST vs Standard thing is really a war of chronotypes & geography. The “kids need to play outside late” stance as common as “I don’t want my kids to go to school in the dark”… so they cancel. Splitting the difference not an option for same reason there’s no viable 3rd party.












The obsession with the "missing middle" has to die. The reality is that LA, NYC, CHI, San Fran, etc need a bunch of apartment blocks built around public transit to actually start building enough housing to meet demand.





SF adopted a stricter ceiling-height minimum (7'6") than state law requires (7'), preventing a Cole Valley homeowner from legalizing two basement units for 20+ years. A supervisor is now advancing legislation to align SF's rules with state code. sfchronicle.com/personal-finan…









Sacrificing an hour of morning light to get one extra hour of evening light results in the same overall amount of light but makes it harder to get going in the AM. You all are going to continue being seasonally depressed because that’s just how winter is.

Co-living has been an unmitigated disaster in LA, in large part bc you can't operate it profitably under modern landlord-tenant law, where it takes months to remove bad apples. (In the heyday of SROs, if someone was ruining everyone else's living situation, the owner or manager would kick them out ~instantly, often, under threat of violence.)



This will be such a nightmare.
