@dachshundwizard Pokemon prices historically have not correlated with other major market events.

I’ve been seeing a few posts lately, some joking, some serious, calling this the top for Pokemon. “Time to sell,” etc. I don't think so. If anything, this feels like a setup for another leg up. Historically, when things feel uncertain - war, a shaky economy - Risk appetite goes up, not down. People look for upside, for opportunity, for a way to make something happen. Vendors culture is STRONG and more and more card shows are popping up everywhere. There's a whole economy of people finding secondary income from vending, which everyone is looking for now. Demand is souring. Also, Japanese vintage, and English mid-era are only just now seeing their prices justified. This took so long. So many will continue to break out to new highs. My guess is we break into new highs over next 2-3 months and then you get a shakeout, maybe dropping to where we are right now. But I don't foresee any of this going lower for quite a while. Too much solidified HOLDERS, culture, and now institutions trying to corner markets. Once the markets are cornered, which is currently IN PROCESS, only then will we see a pullback imo. Also collect what you like - don't chase. I've only collected what I like, as well as what I think are good long term holds - this tactic has never done me wrong.

@JeffroNYC If you sold anything vintage 3-4+ months ago you probably regret it. Now imagine the stuff I sold pre covid.

This is why people leave the hobby. I haven’t even touched a single Ascended Heroes product yet. “UgH dOn’T hAtE tHe PlAyEr, hAtE tHe GaMe” “sKiLl IsSuE bRo” My job keeps me from being able to hit restocks. I love the hobby, but shiny cardboard is not enough of a reason to make a drastic life decision by leaving a stress free job while I work on starting my own business. So no, it’s not a skill issue, and yes, I will very much dislike people who take way more than they should in order to take advantage, rip off, and essentially steal from other people. This hobby may not cool down for a long time, but there are certainly measures Pokemon and retailers can take to curb this kind of activity, and they aren’t.

For Pokemon when it comes to vintage, the notion that PSA 10s are more liquid than PSA 9s is simply not true.

@Prof_Atikin I don't know a lot about signed cards, I think the To: Trainer is a bit cringe tbh. But Shadowless I do feel is severely undervalued given the market with other cards.

@_bismack_ This definitely puts things into perspective, I was interested to see what Fanatics and Goldin traffic is like, and the website I used to check it shows around 1M monthly visits with about 400k being unique visits.

Seen a lot of people talk about eBay's fees lately and all I'll say is it's a small price to pay to have the largest buyer pool in the world actively searching for your inventory.
