This may be the fastest race in swimming history… James "The Missile" Magnussen is 6'6", 35 yrs old, 2x world champion, and Olympic medalist. I'm commenting the @enhanced_games tomorrow night where James is competing. Insane stats on him... #1 His resting heart rate is 28 bpm (cleared by his medical team). For context, elite endurance athletes are typically 40–50 bpm. Mine is around 39-42 bpm. #2 Last year he was 253 lbs. This was after his first cycle of performance-enhancing-drugs. He got too big. He was sinking in the water. He's down 40 lbs this year to try and hit the sweet-spot of muscle and buoyancy. #3 He's so big he can barely fit into his enhanced suit. Enhanced Games swimmers wear full-body polyurethane "supersuits" that World Aquatics banned in 2010. These are the same suits that broke 43 world records in 2009. #4 He came out of a 7-yr retirement for this. He retired from competition in 2019. Tomorrow night, I'll be reviewing their protocols and measurements live.

@logorn_gadum Good lighting and textures that scale well with higher resolutions. It’s at that threshold where “more polygons” weren’t needed. It’s a game that looks like a game. It doesn’t look old because it has lower polygon count, it’s just at the sweet spot for enjoyment and aesthetics.

@ProphetOfKek117 I mean before getting to a show. Before the internet exploded into mainstream, I think projects had more consistency in their vision. But there were lots of shitty endings back then too.

@ProphetOfKek117 I believe a series needs to be completely written out and finalized before getting to an adaptation. Otherwise it’s risky. Sometimes is coporate involvement forcing the director/writer’s hand, and other times it’s the director/writer being too tuned into what the fans are saying.

Have the majority of shows that started off great always had terrible endings or is this a new thing?

Gen Z and Alpha have little to define them, so they’re scrambling for a nostalgia of a time they didn’t even exist in or remember. The thought that 2016 was a great year (in comparison to what us millennials and older experienced) goes to show how dead things are.

It’s becoming less beneficial to know niche things to recommend because most new stuff sucks and old niche media is resurfacing and becoming popular. We all find ourselves clicking on that random recommended 1.2k view song uploaded 10 years ago and a week later it has 600k views
