@DemzDeliver Every time the government subsidizes something, it gets more expensive. I know you will say it’s free, but the universities will still get their money from the gov. And tuition will sky rocket….even more than it did when the gov started backing student loans.

@Martina Isn’t this just a more efficient way of doing the current process? Rather than sending out a letter and having the 18 year old fill out the form and mail it back or go online and fill it out…we can just auto-enroll them. Saves money and time and ensures all enroll.

Everyone should be able to opt out of Social Security. It’s a mandatory program with limited returns, no real accountability, and long term sustainability problems. You’re forced to pay in, regardless of whether it’s a good use of your money. And for many people, it isn’t. They’d be better off investing those same dollars into assets that actually grow, rather than into a system that depends on future taxpayers to stay afloat. If it were truly valuable, it wouldn’t need to be mandatory.

@SSWorks Congress should vote to revoke the law they passed that put a cap on the income level eligible for SS tax. He’ll, just doubling the cap from its current level would go a long ways toward fixing the programs funding isssues.

We pay 12.4% of our income into Social Security. Billionaires pay .0002%. Billionaires are not paying their fair share.

@katieporterca You said the words: 'the rate is the same'. By simple math it means if they earn more, they pay more. Explain why that is wrong. You need to start by even justifying why they don't pay the same dollar amount, but have to pay a percentage; then explain why that is insufficient

California currently has a flat 8.84% corporate tax. Whether a company makes $100 or $1 billion in profit, the rate is the same. It’s time for a tax code that recognizes the difference between a local shop and a global giant.

@FixingEducation Been saying this for years. Get public schools out of the sports business. We don’t need every school having multiple sport fields driving up the costs of each school. Club sports end up being in parallel to most high school sports anyway, so just default over to them entirely.

Should schools in America run sports programs, or should local communities take them over like in parts of Europe? This wouldn’t eliminate sports, just shift them to club systems and free up school resources for academics. Would this be better for students?

@ronrule City taxes pertaining to schools should have a low base that every resident pays. And then an add-on that families with kids 0-18 pay to fund the schools during their time of use. This will increase the burden on families during those years….but they are the ones using them.

If you homeschool your kids, you should be exempt from the portion of your property taxes that goes to the local schools.
