@duolingo erm... I thought it's never a day off! Or Is it an Anti-maths today? Do I need to switch to a "maths" keyboard to get the right answer? Also 0.5 +0.5 is 1... Unless it's 00..55?

Tracking each solar array' performance side by side has got to be the best feature of Home Assistant bringing together multiple data sources in a single App Honestly I do do other things than look at my data 🤣

@NoPoke @theolodian It's the DNOs who use CLASS for managing flows, NESO only cares about voltages (mainly reactive power) to manage flows at transmission, right? To your original question, heat pumps can be flexible without a major impact on customers, kettles aren't. Usage depends on config:

@theolodian Lol, some LV transformers are monitored, some can tap change too iirc. I am asking from NESO perspective rather than DNO. Assume its cold and the heat pump is drawing 2kW continuous (without needing to defrost)

What is the difference between A kettle drawing 2kW from the grid. An immersion heater drawing 2kW from the grid. A heat pump drawing 2kW from the grid. Answer from the perspective of the grid operator please. I'll give my answer later.

@climbtechy @ivanlgee What use is space above your head? Modern Wankpanzers seem to have less passenger space than MPVs which have gone the way of the dodo.

Bit of fun: other than being a farmer, what plausible reason is there for owning a massive Range Rover or equivalent Wankpanzer (eg BMW X6) in the UK? I’ll start: ‘To let people know you can buy drugs from me’.

@Walton9Craig @mwt2008 @Silverbullet130 Oh yes! At the moment and at scale only Nissan Leafs can do it, but others are also developing. Makes sense really, in UK cars spent most of their time parked and using the battery for home doesn't really impact it (in theory it even slows down degradation).

@Silverbullet130 @Walton9Craig @mwt2008 Supply is capped (with a seal too) when the meter is removed, which is only an hour or so, done by a supplier (free or sub £100). Disconnection from the mains is digging up road £500-£900, done by gas networks. First is a good idea, second is unnecessary. This is from ENA:

@Walton9Craig @Silverbullet130 @mwt2008 Interesting.. there is a difference between meter removal and disconnection [from mains]. In my experience, no need to disconnect, if the supply is safe and compliant after the meter removal. There is quite a bit of confusion on this...

@Silverbullet130 @mwt2008 I also had Cadent come round and fully disconnect my supply from the street with a physical break in the gas line, remove the old white box that once housed the meter. They said it was a hse requirement.

@guynewey Sorry to hear that! But agree, very surprising choice... May be they are after a V2G compatible EV?! 🧐 Was it 62kWh battery? According to the dealership, I have "the last brand new e+ to be sold".. not much on the second hand market either! Can you track it on the App?

But this time they nicked a battered, 6-year old Nissan Leaf with a massive gouge on the rear passenger door (from when I reversed into a bollard a few year ago). Is this a sign that EVs are now so mainstream that crims are stealing them to order?

Had my car stolen this week. Off the drive in n21, relay/keyless theft. We had left our keys near the front door and failed to put them in the faraday pouch…. What does this annoying event mean for the energy transition?

Look north in the coming nights and you may spot the #NorthernLights 👀 A coronal mass ejection from the sun is earth bound and whilst there's some uncertainty on its arrival time, sightings of the #aurora are likely in northern areas with a slight chance in the south too

@tobyontour @janrosenow @FullyChargedShw @TheRAC_UK Are you in the arctic or Antarctica? I don't think many other fossil fuel cars would work there... So you can't enjoy these benefits. In all seriousness, EV will suit the needs of most drivers in the UK (average commute used to be 40 miles). Others will have to wait.

Last week I shared a survey showing more than 9 in 10 EV drivers would never go back to petrol or diesel cars. I was told by some that the survey was biased because it was facilitated by @FullyChargedShw. Well here’s another one this time from @TheRAC_UK. Same result. rac.co.uk/drive/news/ele…

@EngineerLondon Ooh that looks pretty - very different scale to D! I'm trying to get a better understanding of DAR failures in extreme weather events. Are there any particular conditions when DAR failure results in SF6 release?

@willow_peck @mwt2008 Most of the issues with heat pumps come from poor installation, configuration and user education. Sure they do, unless there is another source of hot water. Still, the issue of noise is often selective - compared to traffic, continuous or occasional, they are insignificant.

@TimurRDG @mwt2008 No idea why my neighbours runs 6-7 times then, - could be topping up. But you agree - heat pumps run in summer. And many folk will run hot water cycles in the night.

It seems someone has objected to my #HeatPump planning permission application on the grounds of noise. I think they have got mixed up and think it’s air conditioning as they mention sleeping with the windows open in summer at night. So I entered a comment of support but missed the typos before submitting 🤦‍♂️ #NetZero #Climate

@willow_peck @mwt2008 🧐 heat pumps don't provide hot water on demand, they heat up water in cylinder once or twice a day depending on the demand for hot water... Mine runs twice: 1pm (solar gain) and 8pm. In winter, on full power it's quieter than neighbour's car idling for defrost 2m away.

@mwt2008 Hot water. Lovely if neighbours like showers at night as most do or have early starts… as many do. Or boil the water up at different times, not on-demand - eg prior to waking. And if they need any hot water in the day. Next door’s runs 6-7 times per day in summer.

@BerkshireCar @WokinghamBC Been there earlier today, yet again, so context is known, thanks. Something like that, yes - pedestrians need a chance to cross! It forces people to think - the quality of driving standards is shocking! Not indicating, blocking ways, ignoring pedestrians, on 📱s, pushing in...

@TimurRDG @WokinghamBC Thanks @TimurRDG really helpful, local context might help.... so it's saying... 1) Give way to the right (on a straight section with no traffic can approach from the right) 2) Stop 3) Stop 4) Give way to the right (on a mini roundabout like section without the roundabout.)
