@GoWithJordan_ But is the Bible not the word, and the word is god? If Abraham did this and was not instructed by god to do so would it not disqualify him as a prophet?

@GoWithJordan_ Got those Mormons! But question, if the word is God and Genesis 12:10-13 says the same thing or again in Genesis 20 would that not mean that the Bible says the same thing?

The book of Abraham in the LDS scriptures says God commands someone to lie.. Abraham 2:22-25 "Behold, Sarai thy wife, is a very fair woman to look upon; Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see her, they will say She is his wife; and they will kill you, but they will save her alive; therefore see that ye do on this wise: Let her say unto the Egyptians, she is thy sister, and thy soul shall live."

I’m seeing a lot of drama surrounding some LDS apologists like @ThoughtfulSaint @LukeFHan @Lets_Talk_HC and others. Let me get this straight. A catholic wants to debate but uses a different topic for each, than makes a post about them dodging a different topic. Is this right?

@AntHoneyJakes Well that’s because there is no evidence. Just ignore this video, highway systems in the Americas, concrete, metallurgical structures, chiasms, descriptions of mesoamerican warfare vs middle eastern, and any others cuz that’s all coincidence.

@coconservative7 @johndehlin I’d be interested in hearing your reasoning why. I find it extremely anti when John or his guests say things like “if you support the LDS church you support child abuse”. Doesn’t seem like the most pro message, unless they are pro abuse, and based on John’s record that might be

For all the Mormons guffawing over this, let me break this cult-like behavior down for you: 1. “Mormon Stories” has existed for ~20 years. If it was genuinely confusing people about affiliation, that would’ve surfaced long ago. It didn’t. 2. The host is a publicly excommunicated, well-known critic. No reasonable listener thinks this is an official LDS product. 3. Show me the confusion. Not hypotheticals, but actual people who believed this podcast was run by the church. That evidence doesn’t seem to exist. 4. The branding argument is weak. Sharing a general color palette or modern app aesthetic isn’t the same as impersonating a logo or claiming endorsement. 5. Timing matters. Decades of coexistence, then suddenly it’s a legal issue? That looks a lot more like selective enforcement than genuine concern. 6. Trademark law is supposed to prevent real, evident brand confusion, not give powerful institutions a tool to squeeze critics. 7. And yes, people are going to notice the pattern: When a religious organization turns to expensive litigation against a critic over something this thin, it's simply the same playbook groups like Scientology became infamous for. You can call it “brand protection” if you want. But we know strong-arm cult tactics when we see them.

Totally not cult-like behavior

@OchoZaco Remind me to hire you for my business needs. I mean your ability to completely overlook the glaringly obvious that destroys your view and find “between the lines” nonexistent points to support your point is the kind of snake oil businessman I need in my corner

I’m a business guy. I read between the lines. The Mormon Stories podcast has been in operation for over a decade. It helps questioning people. The LDS church recently sued them for their use of the word “Mormon” I thought “Mormon” wasn’t allowed? And why not sue Secret Live?

@RestoredTruth8 Well obviously you didn’t read the comments. Sure I had to filter through everyone sharing data from a study showing LDS people are more familiar with the Bible than other religious groups, but I’m sure someone had a great interpretation that their pastor gave them one time

@CapturingChrist You get those Mormons. I just hope none of them try to use Matthew 16:19 talking about the priesthood keys that allow for anything bound on earth to be bound in heaven. But hey, it’s just the priesthood that Jesus gave his disciples, but context doesn’t matter

@CapturingChrist @emuse1955 Now be consistent and do some about all the popes with their incest, murders, r*pes, orgies, indulgences, etc etc etc. It should make a great series since there were so many of them.

@CapturingChrist @emuse1955 First off, that song actually goes pretty hard. Good job ai. Second, I don’t know if this is meant to be rage bait or an actual claim, but all those creators you highlighted have multiple videos, posts, debates, etc defending Joseph.

@Rultpwr I don’t see what’s wrong here. My Instagram exmo therapist said that actively avoiding my family and just posting my feelings to the internet is healthy and they have never been negative outcomes from people doing that. Silly Mormons thinking you should actually be authentic

The whole point of identifying as PIMO anonymously online is so you can tell everyone except your family that you don’t believe anymore. Your account is literally you broadcasting a major family issue to thousands of strangers while telling people not to do exactly that. Zero self-awareness

@LutheranAnswers Go get those dishonest Mormons! But just as a heads up, it might be worth noting that saying a “large portion” is a bit misleading. The scroll was estimated to be 40+ feet long and they only recovered ~2 feet of it, so roughly 5%. But I’m sure that’s not important info to give

Mormons are amazingly dishonest about their faith. They say that the papyri Joseph Smith translated was destroyed in the Chicago Fire, when in fact a large portion of it was recovered undamaged. Enough of it was recovered, in fact, for us to determine two very specific things about it: 1) It was an ancient copy of an egyptian scroll we have other copies of. 2) We know that it was a funeral scroll, and that Smith's translation was bogus - such to the point that even the LDS church now says that Smith didn't literally translate the document, but offered a "spiritual translation."

@LutheranAnswers Kind of hard to have something burned in the Chicago fire.

@mormons_speak @Ch_JesusChrist Haha, got em, I’m sure they don’t understand how many hours we pour into books like Mormonism Unvalied (all forged affidavits) or No man knows my history (been debunked time and time again) or listened to Mormon stories whose host allegedly gropes women while they sleep

@TraviXai But but but, the podcasters I listen to tell me that it’s a sex cult so it has to be. I mean sure you’re more likely to have an open marriage like some our our favorite podcasters or cheat on your wife while traveling with a coworker from your nonprofit organization as an exmo

Define sex cult. High % of virgins at marriage. High % of monogamous marriage? Highest % of intact nuclear families and lowest divorce rates? What are we talking here? All the prominent influencers online with Peter Pan syndrome having tons of premarital sex are your run of the mill Christians, not members of the church of Jesus Christ.

Instead of "there is no evidence for the Book of Mormon" Try "There is no proof for the Book of Mormon" or "The evidence for the Book of Mormon is weak." The first statement is designed to shut down conversation which is probably why it is used more often.

@ITYSL_LDSChurch Ooh, you got those Mormons. Nothing like misremembering a quote to prove them wrong, or conveniantly forgetting that the LDS church still has a copyright of the word Mormon because of the BoM, or just misconstruing the entire lawsuit just to try to earn points. Great straw man!
