BREAKING NEWS | KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi will soon be leading a national crime-fighting project.  This will focus on organised crime in all forms, countrywide.  He has given an assurance that the province of KZN will still be in good hands, and the new task would not completely remove him from his current role.  @eNCA

Guys, Emfuleni Municipality spent R16 million to buy 17 cars but only received 6. No one knows where the other 11 are. When ActionSA asked what steps have been taken to address this, the Municipal Manager had no detailed answer, and the MEC of CoGTA is protecting the municipality. ActionSA is going to get to the bottom of this.

My Boss once said: “Mpumi we know you are very active on X and we won’t stop you. What you need to always remember is that whatever you say, you represent the company , you represent your family too” That got me thinking, I am not going to mess with my bread by saying things to please people who don’t even care about me. Be mindful of the things you say out here. They can work against you. ✌🏾

Yesterday I was in Katlehong and they had Loadshedding there. In Soweto, Dobsonville, they even have Loadshedding schedules and Abo Gogo and Aunties who often take care of families are left to bear the brunt. They call it Power Outages. The poor and vulnerable can never be forgotten whilst us in Suburbia Mzansi applaud on X! Journalists need to visit these communities and tell their stories, this is in now way being anti-government but we got to be honest about what does ‘328 days without Loadshedding’ mean in the real sense. #CountryDuty

A long time ago, when I was still actively consulting on cyber security work, I sat in on a physical security review. The client had cameras everywhere. The security manager was proud. My technical director asked one question, "If someone walked out with equipment today, could you identify them in court?" Long silence. Fast forward to today. I am watching this footage from the Boxer store robbery in Naledi, Soweto. A police officer was shot. Now look at that camera carefully. This is what that footage actually gives you:- >>A wide-angle fisheye view of the whole shop floor >> A general sense of movement and chaos >>Confirmation that an incident occurred >>A timestamp This is what it STRUGGLES to give you: >> A face a court will accept as identification >>Distinguishable features at individual level >> Evidence that puts a specific person at a specific act The gap between these two lists is a design failure, and it is extremely common. Camera placement is a science. It requires a good & qualified security consultant, proper site assessment, and a layered approach: overview cameras for situational awareness, combined with dedicated ID cameras at choke points like entrances, tills, and exits. Those identification cameras require a minimum pixel density of around 125 pixels per metre at the point of capture, tighter fields of view, and controlled lighting. I guess budget constraints and a lack of awareness lead many businesses to simply find someone with a drill. The cameras go up, the feeling of security follows, until the day the footage is actually needed.

That guy's Polo reminds me how I found my i20. The funniest thing about my case is the car that hijacked me was found, the owner was found with items bought with my card, but the court said there is lack of evidence and they got out and the detective told me to move out at Soweto

In a joint operation involving the Gauteng Highway Patrol, JMPD TRU, EMPD CLU, Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT (EC), Gauteng Traffic Police, and Night Guard Security, law enforcement authorities rescued kidnapped victims and apprehended suspects linked to serious criminal activities. Information was received regarding individuals allegedly impersonating a victim by using her cellphone for “scan to pay” transactions at a home store in Eastgate Mall. The information was immediately shared and coordinated with relevant role players. Upon arrival at Eastgate Mall, members found three suspects already apprehended by Night Guard Security. Further enquiries revealed that the rightful owner of the cellphone had been kidnapped and was being held at a suspected safe house in Katlehong. Operational teams proceeded to the Dikole Section in Katlehong, where a shootout ensued between suspects and law enforcement. One suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was arrested at the scene, while another suspect fled. Inside the premises, two victims (one male and one female) were found and rescued. Members also recovered two unlicensed firearms with live ammunition. Preliminary investigations have linked one of the suspects to a Lenasia South case involving a Facebook Marketplace robbery. #GrowingasaferGauteng #bootsontheground
