UBL Executes Pakistan’s Largest-Ever Interest Rate Swap with Jazz oUnited Bank Limited (UBL) has successfully executed Pakistan’s largest-ever Interest Rate Swap (IRS) with Pakistan Mobile Communications Limited (Jazz), with a notional amount of PKR 75 billion. Under the transaction, Jazz has converted its floating-rate exposure into a fixed-rate obligation, enhancing cost visibility and long-term financial planning certainty. oThe benchmark KIBOR on the prevailing floating rate loan was last reset sometime in Nov’25, with total borrowing cost likely in the range of 11.5%-12.0% (6M KIBOR plus 60bps). By fixing the rate, Jazz secures cost predictability and shields itself from potential interest rate increases in the future. oOur sensitivity analysis indicates that for every 50–200bps decline in floating rate, UBL could generate an estimated annual gross benefit (before tax) of ~PKR 0.38–1.50 billion. oThis transaction marks a structural deepening of Pakistan’s derivatives market and reflects growing institutional confidence in a medium-term easing cycle. By taking long-term fixed-rate exposure without deploying balance-sheet capital, UBL is effectively positioning for a structurally lower interest-rate regime, a signal that could influence pricing behavior across the banking sector and support compression in medium- to long-term bond yields. oFor corporates, the transaction highlights increasing sophistication in liability management, while for banks it opens a new avenue for risk-based earnings outside traditional lending, potentially enhancing earnings diversification. #UBL @UBLDigital #Jazz @jazzpk #AHL @ArifHabibLtd

To establish deterrance, Pakistan had to demonstrate three capabilities: 1. Shoot down India’s most advanced fighter plane Rafale using our own JF-17, and we did! 2. Use our precision missile system Fatah-II to take out airfields and India’s supersonic BrahMas missile site, and we did! 3. Finally, Pakistan had to destroy India’s most advanced air defence system S-400. This was a dangerous, almost suicidal mission, as Pakistani pilots had to enter Indian airspace and take out S-400 from close range. So what did they do? They got up without hesitation, signed their wills, and went in to win or die. After successfully destroying S-400, our pilots came back home, and will one day show this picture to their grandchildren about how they happily signed up on a suicide mission to protect their motherland.
