When an adviser buys a growth stock index fund, a value index fund, the S&P 500, a small-midcap index fund, a developed markets fund, and an emerging markets fund, that's called "slice'n dice". It's done to create complexity for job security, because TWO FUNDS would have sufficed: VTI and VXUS.

@Rick_Ferri I had a boss explicitly tell me he couldn’t do that (even though our clients were underperforming the simple portfolio) because some of our clients pay over 30k/yr in fees. I left to start a flat fee firm.

When I write on X a single world equity index fund (VT) or ~65% total US stocks (VTI) and ~35% total international stocks (VXUS) is all the equity most people need to achieve their objectives, the pushback I get isn’t from individuals, it’s from advisers who charge high AUM fees.

My 2021 Ram 1500 Limited with less than 50k miles suffered a catastrophic rear differential failure at 75 mph on the highway while my pregnant wife and 2-year-old daughter were with me. The truck was in the shop over a month replacing the transmission, driveshaft, and rear differential ($23k in cost). I just got it back and now both right and left exhaust manifolds are leaking ($2.7k). Nearly $26k in damage on a truck that's basically new. I bought this truck expecting reliability and safety for my family and am now dealing with ridiculously high costs and worse of all not feeling confident or safe in my truck — how is this happening on a vehicle this new? Can someone from Ram please help?
