The Democrats have never been civil. George H. W. Bush was called racist because a commercial stating facts about actual results of his opponent’s soft on crime record was run. Paul Ryan had commercials showing him pushing an old lady in a wheelchair off a cliff. Mitt Romney was accused of trying to kill his dog and murder people by taking away their healthcare. One reason Republicans don’t care about Trump’s insults is he’s just giving Democrats the same medicine they’ve been dishing out for decades.
