“In one word, I’d describe myself as nasty. I’m physical. I love striking guys in the chest, moving people off the ball."

There are moments in life when words just aren’t enough. Losing Coach Holtz is one of those moments.
Coach was so much more than a football coach to me. He was family. I still remember the day he came to my house to recruit me. He didn’t just sit down and talk to me about football or what I could do on the field. He talked to me as a young man. And he spoke to my mom the way a man should speak to a mother who was trusting someone with her son. He looked her in the eye and promised that I would be taken care of at Notre Dame. That moment meant everything to us, and it’s something I’ve carried with me my entire life.
Coach Holtz believed in people. He believed in building men, not just players. He welcomed my entire family into the Notre Dame family and always made sure we felt that love and support. That’s who he was. He cared deeply about the people around him, and he made every one of us feel like we mattered.
The lessons he taught me went far beyond football. His faith, his discipline, his belief in doing things the right way shaped who I became as a man, a father, and a leader.
My heart is broken today, but I’m also filled with gratitude for the time I had with him and for the impact he had on my life. Coach will always be with us—in the lessons he taught, in the lives he changed, and in the love he gave so freely.
Thank you for everything, Coach. I love you.
You will forever be in our hearts.

Matt Rhule shares with @JoshPateCFB why most people never reach their dreams and what it takes to keep going when it's not working.
"The dream never gives up on you. But most people give up on their dreams."
A player came up to him after a tough season and said: "Coach, we started doing mat drills, tackling in practice, all these things. We were like, 'We've never worked this hard. We're gonna win.' But we're 5-7. Same record. Same result with a different approach."
Rhule's response:
"I completely understand. But the only chance we have to get to a CFP team is to do what CFP teams do."
"And what most people do is they start trying to do it, they look around - 'Hey, it's not really working, is it?' and they quit. They give up on their dream."
It takes hard work and patience to reach your goals. Change isn't easy,
Then he dropped this:
"The dream never gives up on you. I don't care if you're an actor, in sports media, a football coach, a football player - the dream never gives up on you. But most people give up on their dreams."
Doubt is going to creep in, but that's when you choose where you want to focus and what you want to do.
"You take all your chips and put them in the middle of the table...You say, 'No. Forget this. I'm not a sheep. I'm not going out like this.'"
"You gotta do things that are so uncomfortable just to have a chance. And when you have your chance, you can't blow it."
The dream doesn't quit on you so don't quit on it.

“Most people don’t want be pushed that hard. They want to be pushed to their level of comfort. You need coaches that push you outside your comfort zone because that’s how you grow and that’s how you develop self confidence and self esteem. They push you to deal with failure,” Tom Brady
