Just looked at booking train down to Torquay on Monday and back on Wednesday to save the drive. £562.00 for two people and not First Class!!! How is that possible?

@thegirlchlo_ If the TOC apps allowed split ticketing and was as cheap as Trainline, people would use them. People see Trainline as a way to save money, who wouldn’t want to in this day and age?

@Guard_Ean @Guard_Amos That’s a great idea, knock off 34% all fares. Also do what Scotland have done and do away with peak fares. Get rid of AP tickets too as there is so much confusion around them. Need to make ticketing more simpler and split save is great but needs tweaking.

What age group would it be for? We already have the 16-17 saver (saves 50%), 16-25, 26-30, senior railcard and Family and Friends. which at most knock 33% off. We don't need anymore railcards. What would the discount be?

I’m campaigning for a Great British Railcard. Private firms fleeced us for years - just to get to work, appointments or see loved ones. Public ownership must end the rail rip-off. You can get a railcard like this 👇 (but smaller) if Ministers back my plan for cheaper fares.

@iSlimfit Or, to illustrate split ticketing, Barnstaple-Leicester weekday off peak (with railcard so add back 50% if not) c.£108 single ticket vs c.£40 five tickets.

@PalmerWould @RowanPAFC23 Try split ticketing utilising the station that you have to change at. It sometimes works out cheaper that way

@E7Drew @BareLeft @MSGears078 NB: "you will be able to travel on the next service provided by the Train Company(s)". The rail industry knows it needs to take care of customers in the event of disruption.

Split ticketing is truly one of the most frustrating pointless bureaucracies of the UK rail network. Same journey, just cheaper because your ticket says something different.

@E7Drew @BareLeft @MSGears078 NRCoT is clear. Under Condition 9.4, if you bought multiple tickets as part of a valid itinerary, the TOCs must get you to your final destination even if your (first) train is delayed. A valid itinerary = one contract.

Under the National Rail Conditions of Travel, if your train is cancelled or delayed, you’re entitled to exactly the same protections whether you bought one through ticket or multiple split tickets. If you’re on a through service, your rights continue across all the tickets, you cannot be “abandoned” and you cannot be forced to buy a new ticket. If you’re making a connection, the rules are the same: as long as the itinerary you bought was valid, the railway must get you to your destination on the next available service. Split ticketing doesn’t remove liability, doesn’t void your rights and doesn’t change the industry’s obligations. It’s simply a different way of pricing the same journey.

Flying to Eurovision? You might not need to. Eurovision 2026 is heading to Vienna and yes, you can travel there from the UK entirely by train. One popular route goes London → Brussels → Frankfurt → Vienna, meaning you travel city centre to city centre with space to move around and none of the usual airport stress. If you’re starting your trip elsewhere in the UK, TrainSplit can help you find cheaper train tickets to London using split ticketing. It’s a slightly different way to travel, but it turns the journey into part of the adventure. Read the full guide here: tinyurl.com/yzjcb7vu #Eurovision2026 #TrainTravel #RailAdventure

A key question for the Railway Bill: will GBR Online Retail operate on the same commercial basis as independent retailers? Private retailers receive a 4.5% commission. If GBR Online is funded by taxpayers but allowed to operate outside that framework, passengers and taxpayers end up paying more. A level playing field is the only way to deliver the Government’s stated aim of a fair, competitive retailing market.

@jematrics Sorry to hear that, hope it's not costing you too much more. It's a game of cat & mouse, TOCs change things to try to get rid of split ticketing and we try to find new savings.
