I've got a lot on my mind Are Catholics really Christians? Is almost everything I've been taught a lie? Is my church really biblical?

@MasterMaliq Prayer to God that does not mention Jesus are still through Jesus. The prayer of a son to a father - us united with the Son. We are drawn by His Spirit, we receive Him, and commune with the Father through Him. Communion, not ritual.

Can a Christian pray directly to God without mentioning Jesus’ name… or is that considered invalid? I genuinely want to know.

@PhrogPollen @Urban__Tree Idk, if I were called husband material (...back then) I'd be flattered and honored. What makes that different? (Honest question)

@Urban__Tree Appreciate the meme, but I have been called "wife material" several times (by guys I'm not in relationship with, to note) and I hated it. Might be different in the context of a relationship idk

@xxChessMaster Waves of realization with this one. Very nice. 1. That's not how bishops move--oh wait 2. That just murders the queen, there's no sacrifice 3. Why the underpromotion when a queen would get mate far easier? --OH WAIT.

@Shawn_Farash It may well be lighting. But I lose a lot of respect for you when people say what they think they clearly see, and you lash out at them as idiots. The average guy doesn't live in studio world.

@PhrogPollen This is the conclusion of people who philosophize their way out of struggles instead of admitting their weakness and seeking the Lord's help. They all know better.

The guys saying "masturbation isn't a sin" are genuinely making me lose faith in the modern church
Phrog ☆ Jesus Fangirl@PhrogPollen

I'm genuinely baffled at so many people parroting the same belief, That sexual attraction/desire for someone (which is the definition of lust, btw) is the only motivation for someone to get married. As far as I'm aware, this has never been a held church teaching? I've never heard it growing up in the church, never read it in any of my theological studies on the topic, never heard it preached. I'm baffled at the fact that so many men are saying the exact same thing, that the only reason they want to get married is to have sex. Furthermore, I never expected so many Christians to dispute me on what "lust" means. It has always been held, as far as I know, to simply be desiring to have sex with someone you are not married to. That is what the Bible teaches, that is what every pastor and writer who's worth his salt teaches. But I have gotten so many people very aggressively informing me that is not the definition of lust anymore. And that sexually desiring someone is God given. (And no one has really made an attempt to define what they think lust besides like 2 people) Now I'm starting to understand why young Christian women are so off put by Christian men they see online. If you truly believe the sole or primary reason you should get married is to finally sleep with a woman, you're going to have a very hard time finding a woman who feels safe and loved by you. You simply cannot expect a healthy, God-fearing young woman to willingly put herself in a relationship where she is only giving of herself to fuel your desires.

For context about why this matters to me so much (and this is not to discredit anything I've said as an emotional response, but to explain why I haven't dropped the topic even though it's been several days): The first and only guy I ever dated sexually desired me badly. He looked at porn regularly during our relationship and would tell me to apologise immediately after. He would have physical evidences of his lust when he sat with me or held my hand or anything like that. He asked me to do things I felt were very inappropriate, especially with how early into the relationship we were, such as sitting in his lap, making out, hanging out alone in his house. Somethings I conceeded to, some things I didn't. He was aware his lust for me was wrong, but he had no control over it because he'd never practiced control before dating. He spent his teen years looking at porn, and then his young adulthood, and somehow expected to be able to physically control himself sexually once in a relationship. I can't even imagine how much worse it would have been for me if he had been told sexually desiring me was permissable. I already felt like a piece of meat to him. I already realised the main reason he wanted to get married was sex and to just be able to say he had a wife. He hardly cared about me, and he showed that repeatedly. I never felt really safe around him. Not because I was afraid he would (or could) do anything to me, but because I was nervous about just what he was thinking about in the moment. Just what sort of fantasies he was entertaining about me. Just what he WOULD do if given the chance/given permission. I never would wish that sort of experience on any woman. It's incredibly dehumanising and makes you feel like crap. I want a man who loves me, not a man who wants me. A man who wants to give, not a man who wants to take. So this will be the final thing I'll say on the topic, as a sort of summary since you may not have seen all my posts. By definition, I agree that sexual impulses are not sinful in and of themselves - that second of a thought placed in your mind, a biological response, etc. You have no control over that. But when you entertain that thought and claim it as yours, letting it grow into desire and lust, that's sinful. And disgusting. What right do you have to look at anyone that way? I want to be very clear on my terms because people love twisting my words. Temptation to lust is not sin. Giving into that temptation, letting your mind dwell on sexual thoughts, is 100% sinful. That's the difference in the terms I use: sexual impulse, versus sexual attraction or desire. I can understand if you disagreed with me on my use of terms, because we all have different vocabulary on the topic. But if you disagree with the fundamental concept, I cannot help but be disgusted with you. All I can say at this point is get right with God. Choose this day whom you will serve, God and His religion of sacrifice and love, or yourself and your religion of pleasure and lust. There is no inbetween. There is no middle ground. One road leads to life, and the other to destruction.

One of the things I struggle with is prayer. What is a correct prayer? Why do others have such boisterous words? Am I just being repetitive? Should they be formal prayers? I still pray but feel im lacking. I know Jesus is happy with me coming to him regardless of how I pray. I try to spend time with him everynight regardless and thats when I feel most at peace.

@GPrime85 @BridgetPhetasy "Totally on our own" probably not, but it was largely us. Massie, famous for being right about like 2 things, has been a constant thorn in the side of the right, voting mostly with the left. They campaigned for him for crying out loud, you think he's helping us??

@CovertGosple @Annchap43858665 Jesus didn't tell us so much about the end so that we would still be blindsided. Yes, we do not know the day or hour, but I think, like his admonition to the Pharisees, we ARE supposed to read the age and season we are in.

@Annchap43858665 I disagree because to say that we are the last generation would say that you know when the return is In Jewish wedding they do not know the day or hour Nowhere in revelations does it say we are the last generation

I think the church needs to read the book of revelation more. And to understand that we are living in the end times and that we are the last generation.
