I've had several openclaw bots chugging along overnight , scanning the internet and academic literature, trying to find the source of the urbanist belief that 2 way streets are safer Turns out , this belief is a relic of late 1990s peak replication crisis urbanism Many smart new age urbanists ( some of which work for city of Austin ) actually like 1 way streets. See, pedestrian + car accidents happen at intersections. A street being 2 way greatly increases the complexity of the intersection. Cars dart across trying to miss oncoming traffic and don't always check for pedestrians! Also the pedestrians have to maintain a lot of cognitive load considering cars coming from both directions. 1 way streets are good!
