The more I read about the German war effort 1941 onwards, the more I’m struck by how they failed to comprehend the nature of the war they were fighting until it was much too late.

Chamath: Taiwan Loses Its Strategic Importance in 18 Months @chamath: “ We're 18 months from Taiwan not being an important moment of conversation the way it is today. Why 18 months? Because we are at a point where we're probably 1-2 nanometers away from being able to do what we need Taiwan to strategically do for us. And so as we scale up our chip fabs, as we get more capacity, and interestingly, there are these orthogonal technologies being developed. I don't know if you guys saw, but Neuralink was showcasing a machine that is literally operating at the almost nanometer scale to do the brain operations for the implantation, all automatically. When you have the dexterity and the capability mechanically to make these things, the real reason then is a very different one than what it is today. Today, it's economic. And if you take that off the table, I think we'll have a very different attitude to Taiwan.”

An interesting feature of conservatism is that the right is very interested in fertility, yet nobody criticizes Trump for neither trying nor succeeding in doing anything about it. Nor does anyone ever express any doubt about the “tweet charts while doing nothing” strategy.

BREAKING: Iran just launched “Hormuz Safe” - a maritime insurance platform for ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz. An Iranian platform called “Hormuz Safe” has officially begun offering insurance services for maritime cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz and payments are settled via Bitcoin. Iran’s Economy Ministry has reportedly been working since April to put parts of Strait of Hormuz shipping operations under a new insurance based control system. Officials involved in the project estimate that the initiative could eventually generate more than $10 billion in revenue for the country.

A major problem plaguing the right is outsourcing cultural commentary to grifters and morons. A smart conservative movement would engage a Tory artist like Nolan, whose Dark Knight Rises was basically a sequel to Burke’s Reflections. Instead, we’re fed this low IQ slop.
