@Young_Anglican Nothing is Patriotic about making Paul Giamati any American Founding Father or hero. It is, by itself, a calumny. See Sideways and the Star Trek Academy.

I bring a sort of early 2000s uncontroversial patriotism to the function that makes the increasingly polarized modernity uncomfortable

@truthstreamnews @MoundLore My dudette, you obviously haven't been traveling in the U.S., all these places throughout the U.S. have different personalities and vibes, if you go to Canada, it's even more different despite the same logos/franchises.

@highonlifedeal2 @suama_evo9gt Okra has a narrow window between okay and slime when it is cooked too long. If you love it, it's like the a Southern equivalent of Lutefisk. Good luck and god bless trying to eat it.

@suama_evo9gt I agree, but my older brother, who has the tastebuds of a toddler (never married) puked all over my guest suite bathroom after eating fried pickles from B-Dubs. Don't give fried pickles to a man-child with the tastebuds of a toddler, stick to "chickie tendies"

@Kurt_Steiner This makes little sense, what they failed to consider was the importance of the United States and some scientific advancements in the UK they were not aware of, otherwise their calculations would have been pretty accurate, leaving aside bad strategic and tactical considerations.

This is totally ignorant & why people shouldn't opine about things outside their expertise. As part of a chain of archipelagos that stretches from Japan to the Philippines, Taiwan acts as a formidable geographic and naval barrier to China. If it gets Taiwan, it's not contained.

Chamath: Taiwan Loses Its Strategic Importance in 18 Months @chamath: “ We're 18 months from Taiwan not being an important moment of conversation the way it is today. Why 18 months? Because we are at a point where we're probably 1-2 nanometers away from being able to do what we need Taiwan to strategically do for us. And so as we scale up our chip fabs, as we get more capacity, and interestingly, there are these orthogonal technologies being developed. I don't know if you guys saw, but Neuralink was showcasing a machine that is literally operating at the almost nanometer scale to do the brain operations for the implantation, all automatically. When you have the dexterity and the capability mechanically to make these things, the real reason then is a very different one than what it is today. Today, it's economic. And if you take that off the table, I think we'll have a very different attitude to Taiwan.”

@omriceren I think the poster is psychotic or sociopathic, not sure schizophrenia is this unhinged from reality or lucid in terms of the evil lies it spreads. My friend's schizophrenic uncle says things like "wear a helmet in case the plane blows up" before someone takes an airplane flight.

@johnpauldickson @RaminNasibov All secular authorities, particularly communist ones, kill at a huge rate when the permission structure exists to kill without much or any due process. The so-called religious persecutions, like the Inquisition, killed small numbers of people, and actually had due process.

@gummibear737 It's called the mafia, or the most basic form of government (feudal Europe, pretty much everywhere in the world, forever, settled warlords who extract taxes so they don't have to kill and plunder and move around).

I don’t even know if it’s just cultural commentary anymore. It’s thought, generally. So much of this outrage, since the Super Bowl, especially, seems so forced. It may have always been, but it’s gotten especially tiresome. You can’t be angry forever. You have to build something.
Giancarlo Sopo@GiancarloSopo

A major problem plaguing the right is outsourcing cultural commentary to grifters and morons. A smart conservative movement would engage a Tory artist like Nolan, whose Dark Knight Rises was basically a sequel to Burke’s Reflections. Instead, we’re fed this low IQ slop.
