Delighted to confirm that Sam Ashworth-Hayes has left the Telegraph to join Reform UK as Senior Policy Adviser. Sam is one of the standout talents of his generation. His Telegraph columns and leaders have been required reading for anyone trying to make sense of the challenges Britain is now facing. As a policy thinker he is imaginative, meticulous, and defiantly immune to the herd instincts of the SW1 commentariat. Few understand better than Sam does why Britain has stopped growing, why it is changing beyond recognition, and what needs to be done about it. We’re fortunate to have him.

Reform are civic nationalists (same as Tories and Labour) Restore want demographic security for the British ethnicities.

Today we announce a new policy: In order to deport all illegal migrants in Britain, Reform will need to detain tens of thousands at a time. Migrants will not be able to leave these detention centres, and each will be held there a couple of weeks before being deported. So here’s our promise: A Reform government will not put any migrant detention facilities in any constituency with a Reform MP. Nor will we put them where Reform controls the council. And of the remaining areas, we will prioritise Green controlled parliamentary constituencies and Green controlled councils to locate the detention centres. Put simply, if you vote in a Reform council or Reform MP, we guarantee you won’t have a detention centre near you. If you vote Green, there’s a good chance you will. This is an important exercise in democratic consent, not just for our mass deportation policy, but for where the detention centres are placed. I may not agree with Green voters, but deliberately placing deportation centres in areas that vote against you as political punishment is vindictive and counterproductive. You don’t win people over by threatening them. It’ll also put people in serious danger.

Bristol Central has a Green MP. 70% of the vote turned out, of which 56% voted Green. So Reform is happy to “punish” the 35,000 voters here that did not vote Green? Including at risk women? Maybe you guys are socialist after all. This is collective punishment.

@colbridgey They'll be detained for weeks prior to their deportation. Once they're gone we'll save a lot more money than it costs to deport them. It's all been costed.

This is not a serious way of doing politics. There will be many in Green constituencies who did not vote Green, and many in Reform constituencies who did not vote Reform. No government should set public policy with the purpose of punishing or rewarding an entire constituency on the grounds of which candidate it returned at the polls. Reform should withdraw this stupid commitment pronto.
