This series started as a research project — dates, chairs, timelines. But somewhere along the way, it became something more personal. Because those of us who lived through these years didn't just find the facts. We remembered them. The Republican Party of Texas didn't always operate like this. There was a time when the chair built the party instead of weaponizing it. When power flowed from Texas Republicans — not toward a small class of donors, consultants, and out-of-state agitators who profit from the chaos. We see the hole we're going down. And we're going to expose every hand that's been pulling the chains.

Dickey was the best - he balanced two often conflicting priorities - fighting for grassroots conservative policies while also maintaining relationships with electeds - as well as any chair can. Some recent @TexasGOP history that has gone down the memory hole… When Allen West ran for chair in 2020 against Dickey, he cobbled together a bizarre, contradictory coalition comprised of the TFRW faction that thought Dickey was too conservative and rage baiters who thought he wasn’t conservative enough (TFRW’s role in inflicting West upon RPT has never been properly accounted for).  When you’re challenging an incumbent chair, you have the luxury of having no record and of pandering to totally contradictory wings of the party, promising everything to everyone.  And for people whose lives revolve around petty internal party drama and hating whoever the party chair happens to be at any given time, they’ll fall for it.

We think you are missing the point. The fringe combative side of the Republican Party is never going to be happy. They always want conflict and they always want to change who's in because they have no base to their own foundations. That doesn't mean when things are out of whack, that a change needs to be made, but just because you don't agree with someone 100% of the time, doesn't mean they are your enemy. This is what has happened to the party with it's purity tests and all or nothing ideology. If that fits your bill then we know what good you really are to the party. We have written articles in the past discussing this very thing. Maybe a little reading the truth and less propaganda would open your eyes.

@Tx4Truth Out of staters? That’s nonsense. A number of SREC members lost too. Delegates were voting against anyone who was in because it was so bad. I was a Delegate; I went to Houston. I intended to vote Dickey until the day of the vote but switched to West due to Dickeys poor judgment.

You should put a disclaimer here and say “you hope the Y’s stay home on Election Day if Kenny wins the nomination.” Hope is the key word there. All of this is speculative and we are guessing that you’re just guessing or more like hoping you’re right, but let’s lot let that get in the way of your baseless argument. Also, if you think some republicans don’t like Kenny for some “irrational” reason then again, baseless garbage from the group that has done more to tear apart the Republican Party since back when you were Empower Texans.

There is no doubt X-number of establishment-leaning Republicans who will stay home / skip the November Senate race because of their irrational hatred of @KenPaxtonTX and Donald Trump. Yet, there is also Y-number of DEMs and Independents who will not vote for the suspiciously single Low-T Jimmy @jamestalarico. He's the guy who asks 6th graders to text him at night, heretically claims God is "nonbinary," asserts there are six genders, and pushes for porn in public schools. "Y" will be a much bigger number than "X."
