Developing countries face a serious barrier to progress: debt.
The Borrower’s Platform – a new mechanism supported by the @UN – will offer debt-distressed countries a way to coordinate action, share knowledge & amplify their voice in the global financial system.

It was an honour for @UNCTADNewYork to have supported, together with the wider @UNCTAD team, the efforts of the Working Group throughout the last few months under the lead of Egypt and Pakistan. We look forward to continue supporting the Borrowers' Platform as its secretariat.

I joined the Permanent Representatives/Ambassadors of Egypt, Nepal, Maldives, and Zambia for a meeting with UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres today. We briefed him on the progress toward establishing the Borrowers’ Platform and extended an invitation for him to attend its launch on April 15.
