⚙️The #EUCBRNCoE Initiative supported the first national workshop dedicated to the development of Ukraine’s CBRN National Action Plan (NAP) – a strategic framework aimed at enhancing prevention, preparedness, and response capacities against evolving CBRN risks. The workshop was funded by the European Union.

🔹 Discussions focused on legislative gaps, inter-agency coordination, and national preparedness
🔹 The workshop contributed to defining strategic priorities and next steps for Ukraine’s CBRN NAP
🌐 For more than 16 years, the EU-funded CBRN CoE Initiative has supported partner countries in strengthening resilience and enhancing capacities to address evolving CBRN risks through cooperation, technical expertise, regional engagement, and sustained partnerships – advancing collective efforts towards stronger resilience and enhanced security.

As part of its continued support for international training and capacity-building efforts, the UAE 🇦🇪, represented by @moiuae, hosted an additional session of the Crime, Justice, and Security Training Programme, in collaboration with @UNICRI and @UNODC.
The UAE has hosted six of the 20 planned sessions, reflecting its commitment to strengthening global partnerships, supporting @UNPeacekeeping, and equipping police advisors and diplomatic personnel with the knowledge and tools needed to address today’s evolving security challenges.

🆕 New publication | Minerals Crime in the Andean–Amazon Region: Regional Cooperation as a Governance Response
❓What happens when illegal mining, organized crime and illicit financial flows converge across borders?
A new report examines how illegal mining and broader minerals crime are increasingly linked to organized crime, corruption, environmental harm and governance vulnerabilities across the Andean–Amazon region.
Based on field evidence and expert discussions gathered through the High-Level Strategic Meeting convened by the Secretaría General de la @ComunidadAndina, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs @CancilleriaPeru, @UNODC and UNICRI.
The publication highlights the importance of:

⚖️ 🇦🇪 Strengthening CBRN judicial capacities through practical training in the United Arab Emirates
☣️ As CBRN threats evolve in complexity, strengthening judicial and investigative capacities is essential to ensure effective prosecution and adjudication of CBRN-related crimes.
📍 Abu Dhabi hosted a CBRN Mock Trial exercise under the framework of the 🇪🇺 EU CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative, bringing together legal and technical professionals to enhance national and regional response capabilities.
Key highlights
🔹 Scenario-based training strengthens investigation, prosecution and adjudication of CBRN crimes
🔹 Strong national leadership fosters regional cooperation and knowledge exchange
🔹 Enhanced interagency coordination among judicial, law enforcement and technical experts
🔹 Practical application of national legal frameworks to realistic case scenarios
🔹 Launch of a Train-the-Trainer programme to support long-term capacity-building
🧭 The exercise marked the completion of a comprehensive training cycle, with 45 practitioners certified and prepared to address CBRN-related incidents.
